I really have nothing good to say about this place. I've been to several BJs before, and one word can sum this location up: TERRIBAD. I've been to this location twice. Each time the service was slow, and the food was mediocre at best. There is a definite need of a management change. I know it's brand new, but judging by how quickly the turnover rate for new restaurants are in Chula Vista, it's needed and pronto. Will I come here again? Probably not. Benefit of the doubt; two stars. At least the waitresses are nice.

BJ's is always a good time...the hostess and the waitress were all genuinely friendly (this is always a plus because you can't find it everywhere) Food is always pretty good here too...I ordered the strawberry lemonade and it was ok.. I've had better (no strawberries but other than that it was good) I also ordered the grilled chicken club and it was delish, wedge cut fries were also pretty darn good. My friends ordered the southwestern deep dish pizza and OMG it was pretty amazing...I'm plain and I usually only like pepperoni pizza but this new one is very very yum..an ounce of spiciness and the chicken make it a favorite for me....next time I go i'm ordering it! We were to full for dessert since their portions are pretty big but i've had the pizookie and its yummy.

I guess it's time I review BJ's. Hahaha I just made my self laugh. On to the review. I have had two four experiences here and one three star experience here. We tend to go on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon so it's not too packed. I dog the sampler beers so that you can try small portions to get a feel what you kind of beer you want to commit to. The four star experiences involved a great sampler platter that tasted amazing and every item was hot and tasted fresh. The 3 star night it was a little crowded and my sampler platter tasted like maybe it was gasp...all frozen foods. I'm not sure if it is frozen food but it was just mediocre. And the sauces tasted different and not so appetizing. Our service was great all of the times we visited but it does get busy and they tend to get a little slow. Over all a great place to grab a drink and a bite, catch a game on the big screen. I'll be back to BJ's im sure.

The food is great, the beer is great, and my husband would comment on how the tv's are everywhere. The service is always lagging, they make mistakes left and right, they might forget your salad !!! But your pizza will come right out :) And you glass will sit empty (unless its a beer then they will ask you 10 times of you want another!) End your meal with a pizzookie ... yummm

Friday night and this place was packed with a small crowd waiting to be seated. Our wait was about 15 - 20 minutes, which is not a problem if I had not walked to the bathroom (about 10 minutes in) and notice that there were at least 2-3 empty tables ready to be seated and the hostesses were just holding everyone up. Our server was nice and courteous and the food is actually decent, but overpriced in my opinion. Good thing we took advantage of the "Holiday Special" -- they have a coupon on their front page ( bjsbrewhouse.com/partyfo… ) Dinner for two which includes soup or salad, one medium deep dish pizza and a choice of pizzokie to share. Not a bad deal considering one medium pizza alone usually runs for about $20.00. So, basically you are getting two soup and a pizzokie on the house. Clam Chowder -- surprisingly good. Nice and creamy with lots of clams. Overly salty towards the end. Big bowl. Tomato Bisque -- tasted a lot like spaghetti sauce. Creamy and sweet. Manage to eat about half and I was good. Great White Deep-Dish (medium) -- like with most deep dish pizzas, it was really bready. I love the toppings -- mushroom, cheese, tomato, with chicken breast. Excellent flavor and filing. Did not look very oily, but I know looks can be deceiving. The pizza had a nice soft and bouncy texture -- like fresh bread. We were each comfortably full with 1 slice each so plenty of leftovers. Chocolate Chunk Pizzokie -- Basically an under-cooked chocolate chip cookie with vanilla bean ice cream. I remember having it once and thought it tasted much better before. Warm cookie dough complemented with vanilla ice cream well. A few bites and you feel that it becomes too sweet. The outer rim is crustier than the middle part. I am officially OVER pizzokies. Coupon expires 01/08/2010 so hurry in and catch the deal if you love their deep dish pizzas. DM me with your e-mail address if you have trouble accessing the coupon (they might take it off before it expires).

I just got back from BJ's in Chula Vista and wanted to rant about the lack of food, horrible service, and awful food. First the lack of food. We ordered the pumpkin ale beer... The told us that the beer was all sold out. Then we tried ordering a "medium" white pizza. And guess what? That pizza crust is sold out! So i'm assuming the pizza isn't made fresh. Very disappointing. The service was horrible as well. They didn't have silverware set up for us. Our food took forever to get and it wasn't really worth the wait. My calzone was gross. It didn't even look like a calzone. It looked more like a pot pie. And the "small" white pizza my brothers ordered wasn't great. The chicken wasn't even grill more like microwave. The menu mentioned of alfredo sauce in the white pizza. But there was no sign of it. Really Really Awful. Lastly, it took several reminders to get our check from the waitress. I've gone to several BJ's and this one is awful! Here's the kicker, it wasn't even that busy. I would not recommend this BJ's at all. The food is awful and the service is beyond poor! I hope the Shaky's that they just opened in the mall is better.

Great lunch specials. Pretty big fan of the food, and a great place to watch sports. However, I went with a group of about 5 people, we all orders appetizers, drinks and meals...then we may have ordered a couple of rounds of shots. Nothing got rowdy, then the manager cut us off because she said our tab was too high. I am perplexed.

F THIS PLACE! I've given this place too many chances to redeem themselves for their: -bad service -bad managment Does it really take 1 hour to tell us that they ran out of big potatoes? Does it really take 30 minutes to give us our pizookies? Cmon seriously... This place is a joke. Food is good, but service is as bad as it can get.

Where to begin. My trip here started off nice enough. Went to the bar, got a drink, and waited a bit for some friends to show. Wait was about 30 minutes. The hostess was nice and let me know in a timely manner when the table would clear out. Everything after that...well...let's see. Appetizers took about another half hour to show up...the food took another half hour to forty five minutes to come out. By that time I was pretty annoyed as I was ready to eat. There was a decent crowd but seriously...not enough to warrant that kind of waiting for food. I ordered a chicken fettucine dish. When it finally came out it was the blandest pasta I've ever eaten...EVER. The only taste to it was the burnt chicken pieces that came with the pasta. I never came close to finishing that dish. The only highlights were that the beer was fresh (I got a hef) and the dessert a friend ordered was good...the pizzookie which is a giant pizza sized cookie with vanilla ice cream on top. We had two servers through out the night as our original server left for her break. The second server copped an attitude when we informed her we wanted separate checks and said "You should've told me before I got the final check for your table." We informed her we told the first server that and she said she never got that message. Wow. Slow ass service with an attitude to boot. Too bad I'm most likely never coming back here. That rude server at the end pretty much killed any points this restaurant had left.

First off, Ive also been to the Carlsbad and Escondido locations and the experiences are all the same. BJ's is always a fun place to go. Good atmosphere, nice beers for a large chain brewery. I'll always come back for those elements. Food is usually quite good and Ive never ever had problems. The serivce, while always friendly, has been SLOOOOWWWW. It took 10 minutes for our drinks to come out, and we were sitting at the bar tables. Wait for tables was also long, so be aware if you are coming on a weekend or Friday night. Despite negative reviews, lots of people do show up. So if you want to take your time, get drunk, catch up with someone, or watch a game, this is the place. If you are on a time crunch, BJ's won't work.

i been to this plae about 4 times over the past two years. Overall menu is like franchise type kinda remembered me of the cheesecake factory. Food is always good not great. but that cookie ice cream deal they have is really good. been here once where the service was really slow but it was on valentines day but overall i like this place and will be back. there beers are always really good

BJ's is just a typical brewery. It is cool. I haven't had much of their food but I can say I've had the thin pizzas and those were so yummy. I love their beer selection and the happy hour. I normally sit at the bar with my friend. I love how they have hooks to hang your purse. Check it out if you have not seen that yet. Others than having old men sit next to you at the bar trying to listen to your conversation...and knowing me my conversations can sometimes be inappropriate....having strangers creep up is not cool. I've had the nachos before and those are just NEVER ENDING. TOO MUCH. I also tried the shrimp tacos and those are def not that good. Only like one shrimp per taco. I will be back since its so close to my house. Not too bad.

This was our second time there and I just waited for the review. The first time the place was OK buy we had a little incident. The waitress dropped a wine glass and the bits of glass splattered everywhere making a small cut to one of us. The manager came and never apologized or anything. He just said accidents happen and went on. We do understand that but it was an employee error. A little customer service would've been nice. The second time we went for a Chargers game. Firs, for a bar with huge screens all around, you consider this a sports bar. Well, they never raised the volume because they were a "Family" restaurant and they couldn't. Then we ordered a pitcher of beer that took 1 hour exactly to get to our table. When I asked the waiter why he gave attitude saying the bar had problems and they were busy. Again, customer service is no where to be found in this place. Needless to say we will NEVER go back and do not recommend the place at all

You're better off going to AM/PM for their food (I'm being serious). DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT EAT HERE! You will thank me later. Not sure if they changed management but holy crap, they certainly went downhill. Not only does their food taste like Hometown Buffet (greasy, no flavor), their service is downright atrocious. The kicker to all this was that IT WAS NOT EVEN BUSY! We had to scavenge our own silverware! So yea, do not waste your time coming here.

Had my going away dinner here with about 15 people. Very accommodating staff, and friendly service. Great selection of drinks, and food. I ordered the ahi tuna salad which was really good and fresh. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, which were soooooo tiny, but pretty good. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food, and the calzone that my uncle ordered was supposedly really delicious. Walking by other tables, the pizza looked really good too...so might give that a try if I ever find myself in that restaurant again!

I've been here a couple times and they always take forever to bring our food. Its ok priced but id just be here for happy hour. Blonde ale was good. Food is good. Its just average place... ...It is in Chula Vista.

I gave this particular BJs restaurant many chances to redeem themselves, but alas I have come to the conclusion that this place sucks. I just recently discovered that they do not make their pizza crusts fresh. My bros ordered a medium pizza and our waitress told us that they ran out of medium pizza crusts! Apparently, they use frozen pizza crusts and their chefs dont know how to make pizza at all. Our pizza we ordered was the Mediterrean pizza which tasted like it was microwaved. It was really soggy in the middle and ingredients used were sub-par. In addition, my brothers ordered the Great White pizza which claims to have alfredo sauce -- but no alfredo sauce was found in the pizza. It had a marinara sauce that was disappointing. The beers we ordered were decent, but they didn't have the pumpkin ale available. For a place that claims to be a brewery/restaurant, not having a seasonal beer is disappointing. The service was another disappointment. We split our party in two since we arrived early. The other party had 15+ people that arrived 15-20 minutes later than we did. Although, we had a head start in our food and drinks we noticed that we were ignored and the other group was catered and served more than us. We didn't receive our appetizer plates until after we received our appetizers and our waitress took her sweet time in giving us our check after many requests. After this horrible experience, I wondered what I did to deserve such a punishment. Avoid this place like its the black plague -- dont be tempted by its bright lights and fancy spinning entrance door. I really miss the Unos that used to be in Chula Vista Center.

I loved our waiter! He looked like LT from the Chargers ! Anyways, service was great! He always came back asking if we needed anything. He brought all the condiments out in a timely matter and was overall a nice funny person. I gave it a 3 because our food was just okay. We had the pizza with artichoke and spinach. It was really dry and hard to eat. The fish and chips were just okay too. However, our pazookie was amazing! I would rec this place but stay away from the pizza!

Two stars for the pizookie and one star for their beer selection with about 20 on tap even though we drink everything BUT the BJ beers. So I think we can all agree upon that the service sucks. There were like 4 cocktailers on with about 8 tables and it took me and my boyfriend 2 hours to get through our meal (and it wasn't because we're slow eaters). Let me tell you a funny story. Last time we were there, we saw these two young girls at the bar getting hit on by for the most obnoxious middle-aged, overweight men we've seen in Chula Vista. One dorky guy with glasses was basically sprawled on the bar so that he could get in on the conversation. One of the other middle-aged men had his hands down one of the girls pants. Her friend told the guy to smell his finger... and by golly he did! It was a pretty sad and desperate , but hey, it gave my boyfriend and I some laughs and we're sharing it with all of you.

One star ONLY for the yummy pizookies. Only reason why I come back. Been here a few times and every time the service was terrible. Even when the place is slow, they suck. C'mon now. Perhaps the staff needs a lot more training before they are put out there to provide, what should be, excellent customer service. Even a little above average would be okay! Ugghhh. Some unfortunate experiences - waiter forgot my friend's order of root beer float and fries, waiter waited half an hour to tell a group of us that they had run out of what we ordered and then got my second order wrong. WTF. And then they just take too damn long to refill waters, serve food, and give the bill. This place is not worth it.

After enjoying our BJ's experience at the La Mesa restaurant, we decided to try it again in Chula Vista. I can't say that we were very impressed the second time around. Long waits and substandard food was what we got. I decided to go with the California Burger since I enjoyed the Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza so much the first time. What I got was more of a sandwich than a burger. Bread instead of bun, no lettuce or tomatoes, and the size was pretty pathetic. The fries were the better part of my meal. My wife went with the flavorless Cajun Pasta with shrimp & chicken. They forgot to include the chicken, but didn't forget to charge us for it. I think it's safe to say we won't be eating at this BJ's again.

After a movie, my best friends and I wanted a late night snack, so we headed over to BJ's which was still open at 11PM. This was my second occasion eating at BJ's and my first visit to the Chula Vista location. I had such an awesome time here(mostly due to wacky friends and outrageous jokes), but the food was quite good and the drinks were amazing. I ordered a sourdough burger with fries and a root beer. The burger was good, but I have to point out that the root beer was quite possibly the best root beer I've ever had. It was amazing and almost... creamy. The waitress did point out that it was also brewed on site. The service was good and fast. The host seated us in a nice booth right away. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. She would return on occasion to ask if there was anything else we would like. The only minus worth mentioning was the wait for the food. We did keep asking ourselves when our food was going to get there, but the root beer and beer kept us happy. Oh, and I don't remember seeing any silverware or napkins on the table. We really didn't need any for our food (hand-food), so we didn't ask, but it's a given that you need silverware and napkins at any restaurant. I do remember having to wipe my mouth with the bar napkin. The ambiance, decor and entertainment was very pleasing. Very, very nice looking restaurant. I dig. I'm looking forward to returning here with my good friends for good times and good eats. Despite all of the surprising negative feedback about this place, my own personal first impression was great and I am a fan.

My first trip to B.Js was long over due! I was almost convinced that it was another simple franchise like AppleBees or T.J.I Friday serving bland food for low prices. When I came in, I was quite impressed at how nice and clean the restaurant was. It reminded me of being in a replica of a more updated Cheesecake Factory minus the wide selection of Cheesecake and the optional outdoor seating area. The employees were all busy and kept up well with hosting and serving everyone which really made my lunch more enjoyable! I had an awesome server whose name I did not get but everytime I drank my water down to the ice, he was right next to me filling my glass up. I never once needed to call for him or go through numerous failed attempts to get his attention. He was right where I could see him and frequently asked was everything fine. It sure was - from the seating, the atmosphere, the service, to the great company and delicious food! Restaurants' wide ranged menus always make ordering difficult for me but not at B.Js. I did not waste much time trying to figure out what I wanted because nothing stood out more to me than the Salads and the under 450 calories menu. Eating healthy has become a trend and it's definitely one I can't complain about! Right away I knew I wanted the Ahi Seared Salad. I had no idea what to expect but my judgment was on point for once! My taste buds and I were extremely satisfied after lunch here! The salad looked like something from a well known and appreciated recipe book. There's nothing I enjoy more than detail and almost perfect decor on my plate. The chef must have been in a great mood. I was content that I was served very fresh leafy greens as opposed to the usual non nutritional valued iceberg lettce. The avocado balanced well with the freshness of the greens, sauce and the lightly seared ahi. I enjoyed it to the last bite and remember thinking how I couldn't wait for my next lunch at B.Js. What took me so long to try it out? I have no idea. It's now my new favorite lunch spot until I'm proven otherwise. The drinks mounted on the walls made me want to stay for a Happy Hour but I'm not much of a drinker and wouldn't want to be tipsy in the mall. By the way, I recall saying outloud to my friend who ordered delicious avocado rolls how the music choice was great! Two of my favorite songs played back to back. Billy Idol - "Rebel Yell, and Red Hot Chili Pepper's "Give It Away Now" ... Who doesn't like those two songs??? Experience was excellent! Reason for 4 stars is because it's not exactly a 5 star restaurant but very close in my opinion! Look forward to coming back! :)

We frequent this establishment with the kids, its usually great depending on the server you get, we have been forgotten (once) the server must have been having a rough one, he and the bus boy engaged in a screaming match next to our table. Other than that we've had positive experiences.

i like their food but i really love their beer selection, but service its not good!! waiter was to busy. he serve us cold food and never came back cause he had many tables, manager was around but never stop by to check the tables I might come back but if I get the same bad service I will stop coming for sure

My co-workers decided to take me out for a late BDAY celebration last saturday to BJ's. It was a very nice place. The hostess there looked so much like Uma Thurman I almost asked for an autograph!!! The waitress who served us seemed to want to get rid of us as soon as possible...(Maybe because some of us were louder than others)...but still she kinda sucked! I don't like beer whatsoever so I just opted to get a cosmo...typical but they don't have the greatest mixed drink menu because it is a brewhouse. We had some sort of avocado egg roll or something like that....that was pretty good with a little bit of spice to it...for the main course I ordered the balsamic chicken which was very VERY YUMMY!!! And the PIZOOKIE was so fricken GOOD! It made me forget about the waitress for a little while! Overall...I give food a 5 star and service 2. I would go there again for the food...but not anytime soon because of the service...I probably would have enjoyed the place a little more if we had a different wait-person and had I increased my blood-alcohol level.

I usually like this resturant and brewery. But today I had a bad experience. I don't understand how a brewery runs out of a type of their beer. First they tell me that they have to.change the keg, then all of a sudden, they don't have any. Yea I am picky about beer and I only like one kind from B.J's & they didn't " have any".....managers fault!

The food was good but the service sucked. My friend came down to visit and my girlfriends and I decided to have lunch there. We were left with empty glasses to drink and we had to ask our waitress every time. Didn't know if she was new but it stunk. She only passed our table once. Was very disappointed with the service=(

    (2)
  • Mark O.

Service was bad. Took too long for our food to come out. The Sweet Pig pizza was good, but the Avocado Eggrolls were different here than the BJ's in Dallas. They were spicy and I tasted no pinenuts. The waiter had to be asked repeatedly for drinks. Not worth the $$$ unless you are looking to kill time...lots of time.

use to love coming here for happy hour. Now id rather not! these folks take for ever to serve or recognize you. My family and I walked out after sitting there for almost 25mins no one even acknowledged us not even the damn bus boy. Only if someone gave me a gift certificate for this damn place maybe ill consider going other than that. NO THANK YOU!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE SHOULD ALWAYS COME FIRST!!!

Oh how I love BJ's BBQ Pizza. I mean that is one good pizza. About 10 times better then CPK's. My friends and I were in Chula Vista when we noticed they had just opened a BJ's there. We decided that we didn't want to sit down and eat so we went to their take-out desk and ordered food. The lady at the counter, I believe her name was Courtney, was super nice. I had gone to BJ's twice prior to this visit and will only get the BBQ pizza but I have never had a pizookie. I asked my friends and the lady at the counter if they were worth getting at the take out and she told me they were. Lets just say the PIzookie was AMAZING. I asked if I could get it while I was waiting for the rest of the food, so that the cookie could be hot and the ice cream cold, and they were nice enough to do that. I probably won't be driving down to Chula Vista to go to BJ's but the food was delicious, as always, and the service was great. I don't know about the rest of the restaurant but the take-out/curbside was fantastic!

The very first time I went to BJ's was to meet up with some friends in Las Vegas, NV (located in West Charleston) and I was not hungry but a friend and I shared a "pizookie" recommended by everyone and yes! it was delicious. And that's all I've remembered. Until recently, my bf took me to the BJ's for dinner in Chula Vista, CA and as we went in, the restaurant did not have that much people - I don't know if its because its during a weekday or just a slow day. I thought it was kind of nice and relaxing because it wasn't so busy therefore the service on on top of there game. We ordered the glazed chicken with mashed potatoes, spinach, and grilled string onions and that was OMG! DELICIOUS!!! The mashed potatoes was soft and buttery!! I could taste it now...*salivating* And I ordered red wine and it complimented the taste with the chicken. So I felt relaxed and full at the same time. hehe. It was an wonderful treat for the both of us :)

Not what I expected on a Friday night. The Good: Pizza kept this review from a 1star. Great size and flavor of dough, quality toppings, BUT I needed to ask for more sauce, very dry. The Bad: The waitress placed our order wrong but quickly got our o.g pizza in great time. She said one of the ovens was down and the pie makers were boycotting for the night. She also brought our appetizer we ordered while waiting for the pizza...after the pizza. It was a capacity night so I don't blame her entirely. The Ugly: WARM BEER!!!!.....I took one sip out of the tall blonde and asked to return to the bar. This was so bad there was no sweat on the glass. So my table ordered the beer sampler instead and to my surprise, they were all still not as cold as they should have been. I swallowed my pride and went down the line. First impressions are very important, and aside of the cool colored walls, Marylin Monroe decorated bathrooms, and classy looking waiters this place is one that I will not be returning to.

I was quite surprised to find out that this place had just recently opened up in the mall. Came to this joint last night and I was actually delighted with the whole experience! Our host greeted and promptly seated us right away which was nice. The place was definitely bigger in space compared to the other BJ's I've visited. Our server was very nice to us and had excellent communication skills as she always made sure we had everything we needed. At one point she came to drop off some plates at our table, but chose to take those plates back herself numerous times after seeing that the plates she was grabbing weren't quite fully cleaned. To be honest, I'm glad she caught that rather than myself because I really take little details like that to the next level so kudos to her for being attentive and for keeping our drinks filled ;). If it is one thing I can't stand, that would be not being given a refill or even being asked for one. She definitely made sure we weren't being ignored and I was quite surprised to see everyone working closely as a team. My server had people helping her bring our orders and even boxed our pizza up for us which at another location was never done before so hopefully they keep up this kind of service. Their root beer was so good! It was smooth and didn't have much of a crazy fizz like all the other root beers out there. I decided to skip out on the bar as I wanted to take a break from that and just enjoy the good food they had. After having a sampler, I was pretty stuffed. The pizza was super good as well! Ended up taking that home to eat for later :). I'm glad BJ's is now in Chula Vista! It sure beats having to drive anywhere else for their good food!

As Chula Vista resident, I often return to BJ's for a relaxing and consistent dinner. However, my experience tonight changed all of my feelings towards this. When we arrived, there was a 10-15 minute wait, but there were plenty of open tables. I don't understand why you wouldn't seat people if you have open tables at 6:00 pm. on a Saturday night. I ordered the steak salad with the roasted vegetables, and my husband had the jalapeno burger. My salad arrived with no roasted vegetables and the portion was the size of a side salad not a salad entree. After waiting several minutes, I was able to flag down our waitress and point this out to her. She grabbed my salad to take it back, but I requested that she just bring a side of roasted vegetable. 5 minutes later she comes out a small portion of steamed vegetables and throws them on the table and leaves. I went ahead and ate. My husband's burger was "OK", but a jalapeno burger is supposed to be spicy. He said it was not spicy and not a whole lot of flavor Truthfully the one at Carl's Jr. was better. Back to my salad. When the waitress returned, I told her how disappointed I was with the salad and the vegetables not being roasted, but we were on a time crunch, so I ate it. She had the manager "Spencer" comes over, and he apologized. I fully expected it to be taken off the bill, but the waitress comes back and tells us "Spencer is buying you desert!' No thanks, we need to get somewhere, so she gives me a coupon for a free dessert for the next time we come in. Big deal, I doubt if there will be a next time.

The service was so slow and horrible plus they were out of some many beers we kept asking for we called it early and bounced out of here before having anything else go wrong. Not sure if they'll get another try from me.

I'm only giving them two stars because: 1. The yummy selection of beer. 2. Pizookies. But my last visit here was so frustrating! My friends and I came here for dinner and the service was so slow. Our waitress took our drink orders, came back 20 minutes later with our waters and our beers. She took our orders, only to come back 30 minutes later to let us know that they were out of what we ordered. ?!?! So we ordered pizookies instead, and my friend ordered soup in a bread bowl. Waitress comes back with soup, sans bread bowl, so we had to flag down another waitress to get what we needed. Not to mention our glasses were not once refilled the whole time we were there. I spoke to the manager about everything, and he was kind enough to take care of our bill, except for the beers. It still didn't compensate for the time wasted and the bad mood we left with that night. So disappointing. I'd recommend going to the one in La Mesa, but I had an even WORSE experience there... ugh don't get me started...

I've been to this Bjs several times. The food was great, we sat down in the bar area. The server did not mention his name, but he was very polite and he brought our food on a timely matter. I had a strawberry mojito, it was delicious. I had a pulled bbq pork sandwich. It was big so I only ate half of it. I would definitely come back.

i love this place! i was served by this lovely server named Monica, the one with the poneytail, and the cute smile, and shes from Bonita ( dont ask me how i know this). definetely get the avocado eggrolls as an app and the parm crusted chicken. and dont forget a pizzokie to go along with monica's sweet smile.

Oh geez. I've given this place plenty of chances and a lot of my money. I usually get that articoke pizza with my lover boy and we do love it but it's the service here that did it for us. The horrible service at BJs is enough reason to never come back. The last time we went, the bartender fucked up my white russian. I would understand if the place was packed but no, it was completely empty on a weekday early in the afternoon. If I wanted vodka and milk, I would have asked for it. I went up to the bar and asked if he could fix my drink that he made and add more kalua to it. He refused and said that he could but he would have to charge me. I wouldn't have to ask him to fix my drink if he made it right.

Had pizza and artichoke chip which was of course bomb. What I'm unsure about is if I should drop this a star or not. I'll be giving the benefit of the doubt because some people enjoy this type of customer service. (The whole reason why Dick's last resort makes ton of cash.) The server pretty much dissed my experience with dark beers. I can understand questioning me once or maybe even twice about ordering the Tatonka Stout but 4 or 5 times? WTF?! I had to retort by saying "You see how dark I am? I drink beers as dark as I am!" Ugh Ok, so 4 stars because Tatonka was rich and creamy. Deliciously sweet, multi layered in flavors, and rolls over your tongue in a very satisfying manner. Update: Sliders were good, cajun pasta was super creamy and I felt 10 pounds heavier after my meal. So I'm looking at everyone's complaints about the inexperienced and bad service. Maybe I'm just lucky? Even though there was a shift change in the middle of our meal we were well looked after. At point a server accidentally broke an empty plate and the drunk table next to us got the entire place to whoop n holler but she seemed unfazed by the rude customers. The place was packed with 4 birthdays on the floor and all the bar stools taken but I didn't notice any of the things everyone else complained about. so yeah... maybe I just went on a night where all the good staff was on duty?

It was just okay. Appetizers were good. I had the flat bread margarita pizza which I liked. My entree was the Parmesan crusted chicken which was mediocre at best. It was dry and lacked sauce. When I asked the waitress for more sauce she said they always short the sauce on this dish. Excellent beer menu and the bar is nice.

06/20/11 - been here multiple times before - the food choice is always satisfying - but the stars come from the service. yesterday our server Fernando definitely earned his tip. One of the kiddos ordered the jambalaya which she said was delicious but was wayyy to spicy. so spicy that the orange creme soda, mashed potatoes her sister gave her, the chicken dish her mom passed her, and the glass of milk did not help her. so our server was able to get her a new dish that she would be able to eat. i always love servers that take initiative to refill your drinks. first time trying the orange creme soda which BJ's brews themselves - delicious - just like a 50/50 bar. i was being good & ordered off the "healthy menu" - the maui pork chop - how sad my face was when it came out considering it looked like half of whatever one's plate was - but the pork chop wasn't dry at all & had enough sweetness i was expecting. i also took a bite of the parmesan crusted chicken which i'm definitely going to order on my own next trip. of course we began w/spinach artichoke dip & ended w/a pizoooooookie - the choice this trip cookies 'n cream.

Great place to go for decent prices and decent meals. I had the Chardonnay Shrimp Pasta, it was yummy and fulfilling. Although the description said their would be sun dried tomatoes (which I'm completely in love with), the food came out with just regular diced up tomatoe. Service wasn't too bad. I made sure I saved room for a White Chocolate Macademia Nut PIZOOOKIE. Oh my goodness those pizookie's hit the sweet spot, I'm in love with them and currently craving for one. It was my first time there when all my other friends have been to this place. Good stuff, I'd recommend for a casual outting.

Came to this area for dinner at Uno's to find them closed permanantely, but saw that a new BJs had opened nearby. Went in for dinner and was suprised by the nice and spacious sportsbar themed restaurant. The only other BJs I'd had ever been to was the tiny one in La Jolla which is always packed with students from UCSD. Service this night was normal. The place was only about 15-20% full, so it wasn't too busy nor loud. Ordered the buffalo wings for appetizer, since there wasn't any other appetizer on the menu I wanted to try. I ended up being plesantly suprised. The wings were fried to a crispy perfection and drizzled lightly with ranch and sour/spicy sauce. It was served with celery and side servings of the ranch and sour/spicy sauce, unlike many other restaurants who drench the wings in the sour/spicy sauce when served. It's easier for each person to control how spicy the wings are for each person this way. For the main entree, had the great white, which was a cheese based deep dish pizza with tomatoes and spices. This is a popular pizza here. I liked it's soft and fluffy texture, unlike the oily and hard deep dish pizza Unos serves. I'm not a fan of beer so I can't comment on that.

The service varies, sometimes it will be great, others it can be horrible. Overall it is a good place, the food is good for the price and their happy hour special are awesome. The Chicken Parmesan is by far my favorite BJ's dish.

The service sucks. The food is alright. I guess the pizza is pretty filling because its thick and worth 2,900 calories. It really wasn't all that great... and to top it off its way pricey..

After a training at a nearby hospital, We decided to try this BJ's for the lunch specials. We should have just walked out in the beginning. I knew my customer service was going to be sub par. We walked in and there was no hostess. There was a group of 5 servers standing in the back and no one even acknowledged that we were there. After about four minutes of standing there a server (that was actually working) walked by with a plate and said that someone was going to be right with us. We were seated and ordered from a less than friendly waitress. I had the soup, half sandwich, and thin cut fries with a side of ranch. I didn't get the kind of soup I ordered, but I let it go because they brought out my second choice. The food was okay. My main complaint was with my waitress, I understand that you have to turn your tables over, but two people at a booth don't need their plates cleared every five minutes. And my ranch didn't even come out until my meal was 1/2 way consumed. I had actually had food in my hand when my waitress grabbed my plate and asked me if I was done. Luckily, this place has to-go service. That would be the only reason to come back. They should send this staff to train with the La Mesa BJ's staff. They know whats up.

My hubby and I stopped by for lunch after a little bit of shopping. We ordered off of the low calorie menu and it was great. I had the creole tilapia and it was so yummy (and HEALTHY). Didn't really enjoy the house Heff but it was ok. Good place to stop in while at the mall.

Mmmmmm had the California chicken sandwich. So good! I also parried that up with a hefeweizen and some lettuce wraps to start. Service was excellent:) our waiter was super nice and very efficient with the refills. Can't wait to go back!!

My sisters and I like to come here for the broccoli cheddar soup in a sourdough bread bowl. It is delicious, VERY cheesy, and toasty. I also like to order the chicken lettuce wraps because its such a great appetizer. Tangy and light, its definitely a favorite. They always have great specials for lunch or dinner too. My sisters and I are hooked on the strawberry lemonade!! It is the perfect balance of lemon and strawberry and comes with free refills!! Awesome decor, ambience, and service. Pazookies are what makes this place extraordinary. I'll take one to go please!!

I had one of the WORST restaurant experiences here. Our server was terrible! The drinks took about 20 minutes to arrive. I never got a refill and we sat there for about 2 whole hours. By the time our food got there we had been waiting about 40 minutes. At one point my brother ordered a second drink and the server took 20 minutes again to bring that one, and we happened to see him across the room with the drink and he stopped to chat up with another server and give her change for her tip money, that was the longest 5 minutes ever being that he was thirsty and had already waited 20 minutes for his drink. His priorities were way off!! We asked for a pazooki being it was my dads birthday....never got it! we asked for our check about 3 different times before we got fed up of waiting and just went to the front counter and demanded the check. When our server had a hard time getting the check the manager was hardly any help and kept leaving, instead of staying to make sure everything was done correctly. He made a couple mistakes untill finally a different waitress came and rang us up. Knowing that we were upset, the manager did nothing to try and make our experience less terrible. She seemed to not really care. I will never put myself through that frustration again, that was my last time at this place!

Been here twice already and it's okay. The deep dish pizzas were good but how do you run out of large pizzas when that's your primary menu item? Weird but whatever. The drinks are okay but I've definately had better. Our server last night was a little cold and unfriendly but everyone has an off night so it was cool. Not my first choice but if you're looking for a contemporary resturant that's kid friendly then you've found your place.

  • Leilanie M.

horrible, horrible, horrible! i was there FOR LUNCH and it took them 40 minutes to bring out a cold flatbread pizza and a salad. seriously?! when i asked what happened, they actually had the nerve to make excuses! "oh, we were short staffed", "oh, 15-20 minutes its our REGULAR turnaround time". seriously?! for a piece of COLD pizza? when i asked about why the pizza was cold, their response? (shrugs shoulders) "i dont know why" this is LUNCH people, LUNCH on a WEEKDAY which means people have to go back to work! how do you expect to have an efficient lunch time when you barely see your waiter/waitress and EVERYTHING is slow? you would think that with the prices being so low, they would want a faster turnaround time. which means, SERVE YOUR FOOD FASTER. but nope! i guess tips dont matter to them. NEVER again.

I've been here once for new years and had a horrible server. We were sat next to the bathroom and never saw our server...half the time we spent tracking her down. Today was a similar story. Terrible, slow, unfriendly service. The bartender seemed annoyed by us and kept interrupting while I was ordering. 2 stars is being generous.

Menu has plenty of choices, Pizza good, drinks a little on the pricey side, good appetizers, OK for football season, very good looking restaurant...here's a addendum...they are not allowed by corporate policy to play the sound for sporting events....kinda of a bummer if you wanna watch the game with a cold one in your hand

Let's just say I understand why some people have felt the need to score this location with two or three stars because of one visit. I have gone to this location several times and I can say they have progressively gotten better with their service. When I first went to this location the food service was super slow. Now however I have found that the service is faster. The upside is that the servers or hosts that I have encountered are absolutely happy and perfect with their customer service. Yes the food can be faster but hell as long as my food is hot and my food is amazing I don't care. Love their pzookies!!!! If anything I would go there for just the Pzookie alone and maybe an alcoholic drink.

The Pomegranate Martini was AMAZING! Came on a Saturday night with the family and we had a great experience. The hostess and the waitress was really nice. The appetizer Best Beginnings Appetizer Combo was so good. The avocado rolls were great. The atmophere was also good. We managed to find parking in the mall so that was a plus.

I have been to a BJ's before. The decor of the BJ's in Chula Vista seems a lot different. It's more modern and fancy. I liked the atmosphere. Not a bad place to come with a group of people--plenty of seating room. I went on a Saturday night and we didn't have to wait for a table. The place was pretty empty compared to other places on a Saturday night. The service was good. Our waiter was very nice and friendly. We got our food within 15 minutes of ordering. The food itself is pretty standard restaurant chain food. I got a pasta dish that was good, but there was way too much food and they don't offer half sizes at dinner time (just lunch).

Connected to one of the crapiest malls in San Diego, still manages to gather a crowd. Love this place. Basic default dish for me is the Fettucini Grilled Chicken Alfredo. Best Clam Chowder bowl I've ever tasted. Avocado Egg Rolls are a must to get if you are going to sit down. Finish you off with a Pizookie, hot baked cookie with a scoop of ice cream slaped on top. Recently tried their signature root beer, not bad. Whatever root beer they put in not heavy at all and icecream is always a good thing. Not big on beer but yeah there is a grip of selection, has a full bar if you're not into beer so no worries. Open late at night so nice chill spot. Real clean inside with good service. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

Are they trying to be the cheesecake factory...? The place to go if you do not want to feel important I made my first trip to BJ's on Saturday night. 5 staff members were waiting at the hostess table none of them were willing to talk to us.. Great start. Based on their specials board I ordered the two of their specials... I am happy to say that I only ate half because the fish was still frozen and the shrimp was just Blah. My wife liked her sandwich i guess however we agreed that nothing was outstanding.. The servers took forever to get anything, drink refills took longer than Hayley's comet.. On the whole very forgettable place.. Food was a C, atmosphere probably a B service .. ha ha what service I could not even get my credit card back in less than 5 minutes.. I wonder why the place was only half full on Saturday night.. The Cheese cake factory, without good food and great service.. (just go to the cheese cake factory)

When looking for a variety - BJ's is the place. Great Burgers. I had the California Burger and my wife had the Turkey Burger last Wednesday and both were exceptional. I didn't understand serving fries with a turkey burger on a whole wheat bun. Really? Can't you come up with anything more healthy. That lowered my score by one, as well as another point for the price for a burger and fries - $10.95. Com'on! They aren't that good.

My experience here was okay. I set up a reservation for 10 people on a Saturday night. We got there on time but ended up waiting am extra 20 minutes before we were seated. Our waiter was good but the bartender making our drinks took forever. My pizza was okay too. I've had better. But my favorite part of course was the pizzokie. Everyone raves about it cause it's truly really good. I wish everything else were up to pizzokie standards too.

Stopped in for happy hour. Had a mini deep dish and a few of their craft beers, the nutty brewnette and the berry burst cider. The pizza was small but delicious and their beers are excellent. Would recommend it to anybody who loves beer. Good atmosphere and friendly bar staff.

Yuck....the food was cold when it came out, and the pizza was horrible! I really have a hard time eating a wanna-be Chicago style pie that has terrible canned pizza sauce, seemingly government style cheese and canned toppings. Horrible! Please stay away if you like real food!

"Man, I'm telling you. I've never been to a brewery that serves hotter beers on tap than this place!!! " I decided to go to Happy Hour with a friend of mine to check this place out. The first time we went, I returned my beer. I told the Bartender it was warm, and she said that they were fixing the temperature for the kegs......so I let it slide. A couple of weeks later, we went back and the beers on tap were still hot. Unless you like hot beers, this place is for you. What I do recommend the Sample Platter they have there for $14.99. It did take us about 30 minutes to get it (Bad Customer Service). Other than that, I will never ever go back to this place again for Happy Hour. 2 Thumbs down.

It was my first time here so I may not be as harsh as the other reviewers were. I thought the place was small compared to the large entrance they had outside. The atmosphere is nice and is great for sports since they have TVs all over the place. The food was great, I ordered the Roast Beef Sandwich which came with some amazingly good fries. The waitress we got was nice and the food didn't take long to get to our table. This place might be good for you if it was your first time ever going to a BJ's.

It's no wonder they are opening up all over.... These guys get it. They do simple food great!!! And offer a gr8 selection of meals as well. Thanks for providing us with an excellent experience! On July 3rd I made a last minute reservation for my husband's birthday, in all there were 30 of us. I had been to a BJ's before and the service and food and service wasn't the greatest so I wasn't too excited to return, however it was my husband who chose BJ"s. The menu was extensive and diverse, I liked the option of ordering from the small plates menu as well as the gluten free pizzas. I tried the mozzerella salad and the the watermelon feta, both were very fresh and refreshing, I also ordered the mushroom pizza with carmelized onions on flat bread, again, delicious. Kudos to the manager who was gracious enough to extend happy hour to us at out table, instead of having us go back and forth to the bar to enjoy the HH menu. SERVICE FIVE stars for "D" (Deshon?). D was our only server for 30 of us, I assume because of the last minute reservation. I must say he had such a great attitude, we were a rowdy group, pretty needy, and he was gracious, clam and accommodating throughout the evening and you could tell he was genuine,he was even nice enough to give us separate checks. Everyone commented that he did an amazing job, other severs also came around and made sure everything was ok, they also were very friendly and even chatted with us a bit. BJ"s thank you for making my husbands birthday a great one, you have changed my opinion of your restaurant as a whole, from menu to service, and I can't wait to go back and try new items!

Horrible service ever! My girls and I went to have a birthday/ going away dinner and we had just the most horrible experience ever. Waiters were not attentive to us at all. Took forever to even check on us while we had empty cups and no more food. We ordered more appitizers but she got our order wrong and it was so upsetting. I love eating here but never again will I go and spend money on shitty service.

I generally ALWAYS tip. Even if the service is horrible, I'll at least round out to the nearest whole dollar. However if the service is great I usually tip over 20% This Sunday, May 26th, 2013, I took my little cousin and nephew to BJ's for some ice cream after the movies at the Chula Vista Mall. Personally I dislike this BJ's because they always have TERRIBLE service. Of the 4 times I've been there I think I only had good service once. Still I went in with an open mind cuz we weren't "hungry" and it was the closest place to go for some ice cream and I figured 3 desserts wouldn't take long... After sitting there for 7 minutes without a greeting (yes I kept track of the time from the minute we were seated! This ain't my first time at the rodeo. I know their service sucks, I wanted to compare THIS trip to others I've had there) a server who was walking past and noticed the ANNOYED look on my face greeted us and said he'd find our server. I let him know we were just there for dessert and HE graciously took our order (I wish I'd gotten his name so I could at least put ONE positive thing on here!) Another 5 minutes passed before our server appeared and brought us out the water I'd asked for. She then said she'd put in our dessert order and it would be out shortly. So here is the point where I need to clarify a few things.... Number one, the section we were seated in was clearly marked because I saw the server who took our order bouncing between his tables and not crossing the imaginary line until he greeted us. The table behind us was leaving and the only other seated table in our section was already eating. So unless our server was also cooking in the kitchen, our section didn't appear busy, so I have no idea where the heck OUR server was or what on earth she was doing! Number two, I was a server many moons ago. I ordered a warm dessert so it might have needed to be heated up for a few minutes. But the kids literally had 2 scoops of ice cream with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. So from having done it myself in the past I persoanlly know that desserts do not take long to prepare. Which brings me to 25 minutes after we were sat and our server said she'd put in the order for our desserts, they were brought out. The kids loved theirs and mine was disgusting. $6.50 for a bunch of warm berries in a tin with ice cream melting on top of it. I literally had to get up to go look at a menu because I SWORE the description of my dessert included some sort of "crumble" in with the berries. Plus I'd had that dessert before. There is usually more to it than just warm berries! At that point I just wanted to leave and not touch anything and not pay but the kids were excited about their sundaes. So I made the decision that I just wouldn't tip. A decision I never make lightly because as I said, I was a server before and remember what that feels like. Since I've been screwed over before where a disgruntled, horrible server over charged my card, I distinctly WROTE out the word ZERO where it says tip on the receipt to avoid any confusion or over charge to my card. This morning, I checked my bank statement and SURE ENOUGH where I had only authorized BJ's to charge $9.45 to my card, they decided it would be ok to round up to $10. I know that's only a 55 cent difference, but I don't care. I didn't authorize that charge and am APPALLED that they had the audacity to feel they can charge me whatever they want even though I SPECIFICALLY signed a statement saying I would authorize a lesser charge. So not only will I be calling my bank and filing complaint of a FRAUDULENT charge to my card. I am going to personally walk in to BJ's this afternoon and speak to the manager in the hopes that at the very least our server "Jessica" will be reprimanded for her theft, if not Fired! I can't believe someone would jeopardize their job over 55 cents!

I've been here a few times. It's located in the Chula Vista mall off H Street. Service is pretty good. They made sure my iced tea was refilled. The burgers here are good sized and tasty. Lots of choices, plus they have lots of beers on tap if you're a beer drinker. Lots of choices for non alcohol drinkers like me. Cream Soda was mmm! Only bad thing is that they serve Pepsi products instead of Coke. Love the Pizookie dessert. A nice warm cookie type dessert with ice cream. It's a nice sweet treat. Also in the past when they were running their $20 special. You had a choice of two small pizzas a salad and the pizookie dessert. That was a great deal. Don't know if they're still offering that. I didn't ask the on 11/12/11 because I wanted to get a burger. But that deal is the bomb! Also they have big screen monitors everywhere so if you want to watch an athletic event you can enjoy while eating. Kind of a sports lovers paradise.

I haven't been to a BJ's in a really long time, and definitely not one in the San Diego area for an extremely long time. A few coworkers and myself went to the Chula Vista location on Friday and I wasn't overly wow'd to say the least. I'm not sure if it's because I didn't order the right thing or if it was paired with the fact that our service wasn't phenomenal. I can't put my finger on it. We sat down and was greeted by the bus boy filling our waters, but we waited for what felt like 15 mins or so for our waitress. They weren't overly busy either, it was about 2pm. After she finally brought us our drinks, we still had to wait another 10 mins or so to order our appetizers. I'm not really sure what the hold up was, but it didn't seem to phase our girl. Good thing I wasn't in a hurry or anything, I wouldn't have been pleased at all. We got the sampler platter to share among us and it had a good selection as well the bites were tasty. We also got the deep fried artichokes and those were amazing. For our entree, we each got the salad/pizza lunch special and I didn't think it was that great. When you think a half and half combo, you would think you would get more than 2 leaves for your salad and your flatbread pizza wouldn't be so pathetic looking, but not here. Afterward, we were waiting more for our bill and even longer to pay. I'm not sure what was going on, but I wasn't overly impressed and it seems to be a common thing at this location.

I have been to BJ's numerous of times and I am surprised I have not wrote a review about this place. Appetizers 3/5 My favorite appetizer is their avocado egg rolls. These appetizers are a bit sinful because their main ingredient is avocado and it is fried. It's kind of like biting into deep fried avocados in the Del Mar Fair, but with more flavor. Pizza 3/5 I know the deep dish pizza is mediocre compared to the ones in Chicago, but these pizzas are all right. My favorite is the Mediterranean and the Sweet Pig. Pizookie 5/5 I usually get the white macadamia nut or the double chocolate, but I guess all of the pizookies are all worth it. Beer 4/5 My personal favorite is the Nutty Brewnette and the Harvest Hef because I like nutty and wheat tasting beer. I have yet to try the Jeremiah Red. I don't like the Nit Wit. It has an unusual after taste. However, if you do like a citrus taste with a weird after taste, then get this beer. Service 3/5 Service is a hit or a miss. Sometimes the waiter or waitress will be attentive to your needs. Other times they will only visit you four or five times (get drinks, take your order; say, "How is everything?" and give the bill) or ignore you for the whole night. I like going to BJ's on the weekdays late at night because it is open seating near the bar and the service is better.

So disappointed. Yesterday, middle of the afternoon, I wanted to take my mom for lunch. So we walk in the front door, go to check in, and we wait, and wait. I look around its not like it is crowded at all. So we wait, still no one ever acknowledged that we were standing there. Not good for service. So after standing there and no one bothering to acknowledge us we walked out. Now I have been here many times, mind you. This was simply unacceptable. Bad reflection on your management. This was after the lunch crowd and before dinner, like I said, so it certainly wasn't busy. Management pay attention!!

Our waiter was really nice and you can tell he was trying but the service was just too slow. Only ordered a round of drinks and some wings... Everything took a few minutes longer than it should. Just seemed like our waiter was in training or something. And not much team effort here, not one other person stopped by at our table to check on us or anything?! I had to ask for napkins too, which usually is a given with buffalo wings!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! I have been to the other Bj's restaurant in San Diego, and it is one of my favorites. However, this location had the worst staff I have ever seen. I came with a friend to celebrate Mothers Day, we were seated quickly because it was an afternoon, so it was not busy at all. But when we ordered our food with an appetizer to come before our meal, we had to wait 40 MINUTES to get it! Another 20 MINUTES for our entrees. I had somewhere to be afterward so this was truly an inconvenience, but I wish that were the worst part. When they brought out the food, it was cold. Not lukewarm, cold. They brought my friends pizza out WITH A SLICE OF PIZZA MISSING. Who does that!??? The waiter, Lindsey (a male) told me one slice fell off, and shrugged "I don't know what you want me to do, I can get a manager if you want". So after waiting for a manager, all he can tell me is "I just got here...I just walked through the door" over and over. But contradicted himself after admitting the pizza fell on the floor, than quickly correcting himself, saying it was just the slice that fell. So was he there, or did he just "walk through the door"?? He was totally inconsiderate. I wish I had got his name. They comped my meals, but I had to pay for my appetizer and alcoholic beverage. The staff at that location are so unprofessional, they seem to have no experience in the food industry, or customer service for that matter. A bunch of kids out of high school. I left feeling totally unsatisfied, and nobody, not even the manager, could care less.

its and OK place to go for a casual diner! the bjs favorite pizza is the BEST! and during happy hour the beer becomes better! they do have a great beer selection! not a an expensive place!

AWESOME DEEP DISH PIZZA AND DRINK SELECTION!!!!! The only thing that sucked was the waiter. Took his sweet ass time for everything. I could see him chatting his mouth off with other employees. Took him FOREVER to get our drinks and ranch. Never mind, scratch that, he was lazy!!!!

Did BJs in Chula Vista change Mgmt or what? This place has always been my favorite but after tonight I won't be coming back! I brushed off a few times when they forgot our salad or the one time they brought our appetizer the same time as our meal but today tops it all..we waited a half hour noticing they were calling customers who came after us only to find out our pager wasn't even registered!! They need someone at the front (and there was 4 of them) who knows what they're doing instead of standing there yawning the whole time we were there!! Very disappointed!!! and all the girl could do in the front was put her head down and say i'm sorry!!! I'm sorry too cause you just lost our business coming in there once a week!!!

Not a big BJ's fan to begin with, but even less of a fan now. My friend decided to co-host his birthday dinner here for a group of twenty people. He had made reservations for 7:30 PM. My bf and I arrived 15 mins late, assuming we would simply join our friends at the table. Instead, we found the group split- each half clustered around each end of the bar. There wasn't very much room and we were in the waiters' way. We were constantly dodging waiters who were trying to ring up their tables at the register in the corner just behind us. So we wait for the table to clear up "in ten minutes". Ten minutes later, we waited for it to clear in "fifteen minutes". It was getting really warm in the restaurant- it definitely needed some ventilation. Just over an hour after the reservation, the group was finally seated. The only pro to the night was three drinks and one beer later, our bill was only $20 at the bar.

Ok, so this was my first time here and it will be my last! The service and food are terrible. I called ahead for a pick up order. I should have known better and hung up after being on hold for 5 minutes. But hey my dad really wanted to try this place. The lady said it'll be ready in 15 minutes. Ok I get there 30 minutes later and it takes 10 minutes to get a greeting let alone some one to tell me that pick orders are around the corner, to my surprise no one is at the counter and the phone is ringing off the hook. A nice lady finally ask if I need help. I tell her I have a pick up order, she checks on the order and its not ready yet even after 40 minutes from placing it originally. I was surprised. Finally I get my order and go home. The pizza was lack of toppings and the crust was hard, not to mention cold! Very small for a large as well. NEVER AGAIN.

Im writing this on behalf of my hubby....He stopped by BJs yesterday evening. The wait was extremely long and the restaurant wasn't that busy. After the order was placed it took way too long for the food to arrive. By the time the food came it was cold. So basically he waited a long time for cold food. Not good.

Came here for some lunch with my friends, and we all ordered the salmon and it was definitely delicious. However, towards the end of the visit, the customer service certainly went downhill. We kept calling for our server to bring our check, but, she took almost what felt like eternity. We were able to have another server find our server and he was kind enough to find her for us and give us our check. Hope this will be fixed over wait time. Thanks.

My experiences here have been just okay. Service was okay - not great, but not terrible. I absolutely LOVE their oreo pizookie. I ALWAYS have to order it every time I come here. It's the main reason I ever come here. Their pizzas are decent, but nothing that special. Big baked potatoes are good. Honestly, the best thing about this place is the pizookie. hands down! If you go here & don't try a pizookie, any flavor, you'll regret it.

So if you find your heading over to BJ's in chula vista mall, make sure your not in FERNANDO'S section. Really bad waiter, lazy and forgetful and has to many excuses. His favorite one is "I ordered it"

So disappointed with this location considering my meal was a solid 4-star worthy. My boyfriend and I walked into this location on a Monday night looking for a meal with the occasional alcoholic beverage. After waiting around for a hostess to appear we were seated and had a good view of various flat screen tvs with the Monday Night Football game on (always a plus). After looking at the menus the hostess had given us and wondering why we had been sitting there for 10-15 minutes without our sever even coming to our table yet to introduce himself or ask for drinks it finally occurred to the other severs we were staring down that hey, we haven't had any service. Finally our server who shall remain nameless made his way over and asked for our drink order. By that time we were already fully aware of what we wanted to eat so we placed our order and our alcoholic drinks came shortly after. I ordered the Mango Tango with a Turkey Burger (which came with my choice of thin-cut fries) and my boyfriend ordered an Oktoberfest beer with the Scampi Pasta (which came with garlic bread). My mixed drink didn't taste the greatest with the basil leafs it included but as soon as I took those out the taste improved. The Turkey Burger however was on point, very delicious and the thin-cut fries with ranch dressing is always a winner in my book. My boyfriend enjoyed the brew however his Pasta which I had a bite of was dry and lacked flavor. About this time we were waiting around again for our sever to appear as I was getting thirsty and wanted to order a Diet Soda. However after another 15 minutes of waiting around I finally decided to get up and asked another sever with blonde hair for my drink and apologized for having to ask her but that I had no idea where my sever had went. She gladly brought out my drink and 5 minutes later our sever decided to show up and ask us if we needed anythng which we asked for the check before he could take off again. He informed us his shift was ending and that another waiter would be taking over for him and handling our check. I'm usually a very generous tipper however the service we received from our waiter was terrible that I felt like I shouldn't have left any gratuity (but I did leave a small amount for the drink and quality of the meal). Thank you to the blonde waitress who showed us your courtesy and actually came to our table a few times just to check on us. Next time however we'll get our meals to go or visit another location to dine in.

People are criticizing my former review of a particular bartender that works here. I understand that you may be friends with this particular bartender, but I saw what I saw, and I thought Yelp was an open and free place for us to give our honest reviews. With that being said, I will edit my review for you guys just to avoid all your feelings to get hurt. For customers, please be aware that there are some unprofessional people working at BJ's. Other than this particular bartender, I had a wonderful experience at BJ's. The waitress was very kind and the food was excellent. But what I saw the bartender do was disgusting, and extremely unprofessional. So for those of you who want to write me back and say "your a retard" (when really, it is *you're) and also call me uneducated and ridiculous, that's fine. I get that you are friends with this bartender and want to stick up for her. You're entitled to your own opinion, but I saw what I saw. Thanks.

This was my second time for lunch at this BJ's. It's not as crowded and loud like the others I've been to. It's a nice atmosphere with good food for business lunches! The service was good. We were seated right away. Our server took the time to answer our questions and gave his honest opinion on certain dishes. We got our food quickly as well. I love how their menu has printed calories for the health conscious. The "light" menu options are the best I've seen in any restaurant. I chose the flatbread pizza from this menu with a small house salad. The pizza was a good long size. It was also delicious. I couldn't even eat it all! Overall, great place for a power lunch!

Celebrated a friend's birthday here. They gave her a little candle-lit bazookie (cookie+ice cream) in celebration :] I ate their chicken bbq deep dish pizza, and it was pretty good. Their mango mojito was good too, tasted like juice! Overall good modernized atmosphere, a-ok service. It's located at the end of the Chula Vista Mall so parking is a-plenty! Tips for big groups: 1. They only allow up to 2 credit card charges when splitting the bill. 2. They 'supposedly' had a 2 hour limit, but I swear we stayed longer.

I've been to other BJ's and this one was just the same. I love consistency when going to a chain restaurant. Service was great. Food came quick. The server came back to see if we needed anything a couple times which is perfect. I can't stand when they don't come back at all and you need refills, napkins, ect. or when they come up to your table again and again nagging you so you can't enjoy your meal and company. Well this was the perfect amount :) I like how they put how many calories in each dish right on the menu. Most of the dishes are my entire daily allowance though! But it does help make a healthier decision. Fish tacos were great and not too high in the caloric value! This place is pretty good.

I think I just noticed this the last time I came in - their portions are really big! I'm pretty sure you get your money's worth eating at any BJ's restaurant (or maybe it's just this specific one). I order a cesear salad as a side and it was still too much AND I ordered it to go with my pot roast! Too much fooooooooood, but it's soooo goooood!!

Not the best place in the world to watch Sporting Events. Don't get me wrong, because I love the beer they serve over here. And some of the dishes that I've eaten here are pretty decent. I can rave on and on about their flatbread pizza's because they are extremely delicious. Unfortunately, what I can't deal with at this restaurant is the DISCO/TECHNO Music they play while these sporting events are on the tube...and trust me, I've seen scenario played over and over again. I will come back here again for Happy Hour cause it's fun to hang out with friends...I will not however, come here whenever there's an NBA Playoff Game, NFL Season Game or a College Football Game. Unless ofcourse BJ's decides to become a REAL SPORTS BAR and Turn off the DISCO.

We visited around lunch time and arrived well before the lunch rush. The service was fine up until the wait for the food. It must have been 30 minutes and a reminder to the waitress before the food came out. I had the tomato soup and ham sandwich, which was good enough. My friend had a personal pizza which not only arrived 15 minutes after the rest of our food, but came out cold and soggy. The cheese wasn't even melted. The only thing saving BJs from a one star review is that my friends and I found the rest of the food, once it arrived, to be decent. I don't think I'll be returning. The restaurant is located in a very busy shopping area, so I suggest trying one of the many restaurants within walking distance.

i ate at BJ'S in san jose so i figured we would go here for dinner... the wair took 5-10 minutes. seriosuly there were hella seats open. we finally get seated. the server some white chick forgot her name.asks us for our drinks n see if we want appetizers helal rushing us. we just sat down forreals. anyways after we ordered waiting hella long cuz we got a pizza the bjs favorite. its alright. and i got the chardony(spelling?) shrimp pasta. THE PASTA WAS WATERY. NO SAUCE AT ALL. THE SHRIMP WASNT PLUMP LIKE THE MENU SAID. so i asked for more sauce on the side. fuck it must have been some special sauce cuz when i got it, it was a different color from my orginal pasta sauce. NASTY! im nto racists or anything but let me tell you our server SUCKED!!!!! so we sat next to a middleclass looking family with one daughter. (they were a white family so was our server) and damn our server gave them the best fucking service ever. she served them their pizza.like put that shit on a plate for them and everything. she didnt even give us out pizza some other dude did. ohh and when i wanted to take food home she just handed us boxes and dipped. but when the table next to us took food home. the server packed their shit for them. seriously i was annoyed. its probably she thought she wasnt gonna get a good tip from us!?( im asian and i was with 3 military guys) whatever. i was annoyed. i didnt want to tip ther server but we still did. but forreals i felt like she didnt want to help the minorites. lols. im over it. i wont eat here again! OHHH and their beer sucks!!!!!! the BJ'S in san jose is way better!

Seriously - WHAT IS UP WITH THE SERVICE AT THIS LOCATION? We got immediate seating in the bar area, waited around for awhile to order drinks. When our server finally returned I gave her my order and she took off like a bat out of hell before my friend could tell her what he wanted. My drink was tasty but tiny (especially for that price) and the food was good but the service was almost non-existent.

MARK: Attention ALL Chargers fans... If you are looking for a place to watch the Chargers game while eating out with some of your friends or family, this is NOT the place to go!!!! Since this is a brand new spot, 10 of my friends and I figured we should go watch the game over at BJ's especially since we love their food and it's close to home. We were seated in the dining area of the restaurant and there was no sound to the game. I asked the management if they could turn on the sound to the game but they said that it was their decision to leave it off in the dining room area. So we were forced to listen to crappy ass music from artists like Ashley Simpson while the bar area of the restaurant had it playing. It was obvious that everyone in the place was there for the game. Needless to say, we left by halftime. Stick to a place like Oggi's if you're looking to hang out and watch/listen to the game with some fellow Chargers fans!! BERN: Most of the wait staff were newbies so it did take a lil longer to receive our food and beverages. But they were very friendly and accommodating. I don't have any doubt that in a month or two that problem will be solved. But BJ's is a freakin brew house for goodness sakes. Let the people knock back a few brews and watch the damn game with sound!

The first time, I went there for happy hour, I had such high hopes. The menu looked great, the beer list was long and it seemed to be such a wonderful addition to drab Chula Vista. Alas, I was sadly disappointed. As several have already pointed out, the service is terrible. Hello. When I sit in the bar, I want to have a drink. Not tomorrow, not the next day but today and the sooner the better. While the English believe in warm beer, I don't. Why does my beer have to sit at the bar waiting by it's lonesome? (The second time, I was there I almost got up to get my own beer but my darling wife whacked me in the shin). Does beer get better with age? Afraid not. Been there twice so the terrible service is not an anomaly. Sorry, I really wanted to like this place. Maybe the next time, I'll just do the restaurant side. If I go back...

I came here for Lunch and let me tell you the Food was amazing, I give 3 stars. We had the sliders, Pasta Chicken Alfredo, Chili (was SUPERB) and the best tasting Bacon and MAc N cheese I ever had. Another Star because their specialty drinks were at a GREAT price. Minus one star because of the unfun Bartender we had. SOOO, We ate the bar, I expected a fun upbeat bartender, but no, we got the one who wasn't. She didn't even clean an area for us to sit at when we arrived. I kind of hinted like "Do I sit here?"even though there was a mess.. On the Other hand, She was super nice to the lady's, she was even friendly with my friend. I Definateley would come back, A Great resteraunt down here for Chula Vista and San Ysidro, why go Seau's.chilis, or Fridays. I'm coming here! Oh did I mention at the bar they had a JUMBO Tron and put on the Real MAdrid game for me! OK, Ok, 5 stars just because This place is awesome, But Bartender you need to step up your service!

The last time I went here was back in the beginning of March and I was very disappointed and wrote a bad review. We went here today for lunch, it was myself, my husband and daughter. My daughter chose the place to celebrate a good school year. Well, I don't know if we just chose to go on a good day or got a good waitress or if they just improved from all the bad reviews from when they first opened...but our experience this time was extremely good. We went around lunch time. It was actually pretty packed inside. We were seated immediately. Greeted by our waitress within minutes. Drinks given right away. We ordered and food was out within maybe 15 minutes or so. Not too long of wait at all. She even came to check on us several times. During weekdays up until 2p I believe, they have a small lunch menu. I didn't order off of it, I just decided to order what I usually order which was the pot roast, I kinda wish I just ordered something off the lunch menu for cheaper because the pot roast was SO full of fat and the gravy was salty, but I didn't complain. My husband ordered off of the lunch menu though and got the half sandwich with salad. The salad was pretty big for a side salad. His sandwich, which you get to choose from 4 or 5, was a half sandwich, but pretty large. He got the chicken club. It was really tasty and it came with a side of fries. His meal was only $6.95. Thats really a good deal. My daughter ordered her usual off the kids menu...chicken tenders with happy face potatoes, which she loves! Plus her birthday is in 3 days, but I just told the waitress she was celebrating her bday too and she brought her a free pizookie, which is the reason my daughter even chose BJ's is because of the pizookie! And there was candle on top, which made her feel even more special. But as our waitress said when I asked if they sing too, "she said, no and thank goodness we don't" Haha. I thought it was funny. My daughter was fine with a free pizookie in which she chose chocolate chip. If anyone goes to BJ's...you cannot leave without trying a pizookie! Our visit this time was definitely A LOT better than the last. Service was great and speedy plus the food was great. We are thinking of coming back for fathers day because we saw a sign that says all dads get a free BJ's pint glass and my husband liked it! (haha)

THE SERVICE HERE IS THE WORST. But man their food is delicious. It's also a plus that you can call in your party ahead of the time to be seated. Regardless of the service I will continue to go... BUT first... In the numerous times I've been there the service has always been average or below it. If you want to order their awesome cream soda do so before 10am because they always seem to have "ran-out." around dinner time. But even if they do have the awesome cream soda available... it takes 20 minutes to get it. Once that's received you have to be really good at waving your hand or politely yelling "Excuse me." to get any waiter or waitress' attention. Then you can order... and wait another 40 minutes to get your food. Make sure you you bring some playing cards or have full cell phone battery to entertain yourself during the wait. A bottled water or can of Coke is also necessary 'cause the waiter won't come by at all during the wait. Oh and God forbid you have to split the check... one of my waitresses said, "Oh? Split check? Yeah.... we can.... well.... it takes 45 minutes to split it up." Seriously, Terrible Waitress?! 45 minutes? Liar. Just stop being lazy. Recommend the Turkey Club, Spicy Tomato Spaghetti, Sante Fe Salad and the Tuscan Tomato Bisque soup. Note to BJ's staff: I will continue to go back because the food's good and it's one of the finer establishments in west Chula Vista... but that's no excuse to suck at service. And I still give you guys a tip above the minimum 15% because I'm a good guy. I also understand that Uno's is no longer your competitor but still... just be cool and tad more prompt.

As many BJs there are here near me, I've never been to one. I was in SD Sunday. After shopping at the Outlets in Chula Vista, we needed a bite to eat and ofcourse something to drink. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. There were alot of tv screens at the bar area-as we sat there. Appetizers were good portion, filling, and delicious. We ordered calamari and chicken lettuce wrap. Between the three of us, we were stuffed with those along with our drinks. Parking is convenient. Alot of shopping nearby. Drinks were stiff. Server was pleasant and sweet.

This has to be my favorite location just because I love the layout (and there's a Jamba Juice, Panera, and Starbucks right next door!). Great open space so it doesn't look too crowded. LARGE split screen TV behind the bar and additional sets located at all corners of the restaurant so it doesn't matter where you're sitting, you'll still have a great view. EXTRA POINTS for switching from telemundo to ESPN on request :) Bad service?? Really? The hostess greeted and seated us right away, and our [1st] waitress was very patient with my sister, cousin, and me.. we were too busy talking to look at our menu that it wasn't till the 3rd time she came that we were ready to order. We didn't feel rushed and she didn't seem one bit annoyed. Kudos for the great beer recommendation too. I'm not much of a [beer] drinker (I know, AND I'm Yelp elite. whaaat?!), but I really liked their new Oasis amber beer. It was smooth and not bitter whatsoever. Where I'm usually the one babysitting her drink, I killed it long before my 30-yr old veteran beer drinker cousin.. and I thought boys could hang. *tsk tsk, bringing shame to the family name! Half-way thru our dinner, our 1st waitress went on break and was replaced by an equally kind and helpful one. When ordering my fish tacos (that came in two), she recommended getting one fish and one shrimp so that I could sample both. DUH! Why didn't I think of that?! For our dessert, we wanted to get the large pizookie party platter but that was too much for the 3 of us, and the individual pizookie wasn't enough, so our 2nd waitress recommended the trio and told us they each came with a pretty generous scoop of ice cream. We weren't disappointed. In addition, both waitresses came around plenty of times to refill our drinks. So in my opinion, service was EXCELLENT! But maybe we were just lucky :) Extra points for the revolving door. I don't care how old you are, they're still cool. ;) Boo for no patio sitting tho!

good food and decent quality beers on tap. The service is exceptional and the place doesnt seem pretentious. Definitely return here to get that pizookie dessert thingie.

Having been to BJ's in La Mesa, this place is alright. This place is smaller for sure and doesn't have a patio. I remember when football season was on, my friends and I were trying to watch a game and none of the TVs had audio. It was wack! And, they told us we had to be quite because it was family a restaurant. Booo! Your showing the football playoffs and you serve alcohol! What do you expect? Dumb-asses! Other than that, I've only had the pizookie from here before and it was excellent, of course. This place is OK.

I was so excited to learn there was a BJs in Chula Vista once I moved down here! I have been to the Grossmont location countless times and have never been disappointed. The Chula Vista location sucks! I always order the giant baked potato and they seem to be regular sized potatoes here. I mentioned it once and they said they would get me a new one, but then returned to let me know that they were out of potatoes and offered a dessert instead. Most recently I went there on a Monday evening when it was not crowded at all, but the service was definitely lacking. We had a party of 6 and 3 people ordered the 7 beer taster sampler and the waiter made some snide remark about making his job difficult. I asked if I could order the onion string appetizer that is no longer on the menu and he assured me I could. He came back a bit later and I put in my order for a potato in hopes of receiving a giant one that I could share with the hubby. The waiter hung out by the bathroom chatting with some other waiters never checking on us and finally they bring out two entrees. Where on earth is my gd appetizer?! So they bring out my not giant potato and the waiter then tells me it is taking a bit longer for the appetizer since it is not on the menu and it is a "process". Hey buddy thanks for letting me know it was going to take almost an hour to get my appetizer which I would have gladly canceled had you given me any sort of warning.... If you want to go to BJ's don't go to this location.

Lots of 5 star experiences. Our server, Josh, was charming. Tortilla soup was plentiful and the skinny fries were perfect. Friends loved mahi mahi tacos in both grilled and fried versions. Chicken sandwich was not so good. Been before and we were pleased with burgers. Plenty of choices on menu!

I was here Monday after mothers day for lunch. Food was good and service was good. Nothing major good or bad. The menu is kind of clustered, they should split it into drinks and food. I'll be back!!

There is nothing wrong with the food or the restaurant itself, but there is no wow factor either. You can go and stop going for five years and the menu will still be the same. As far as choices, they are broad. I personally do not like their pizzas at all, I always have the chopped salad-pretty big portion and decent flavor. Of course, the redemming fact about this place is their pizzokie.....I loove the white chocolate macadamia!!! Love it! I wish I didnt have to share , but it is like a billion calories, so you must. lol. BJs is a safe bet for a quite family dinner-nothing more Ahh they are also good managing large groups

I love BJ's, I just hate going to the one in Chula Vista! Why do I go, because it is always empty, now I know why. Two stars because the food is always consistent and pretty good for the price. Today's experience took the cake though; they were DEAD! Maybe three tables with over 7 servers available. Our waiter started out ok, but then it just went down hill. We order, before any other table and when does our food come out? LAST! My husbands order was wrong, and the lovely man (sarcastic tone) who served it to us, tells us "ya, that's what he wanted . . ." and continues to walk away. Very classy. You could tell our server was embarrassed and overworked (they did start to pick up). However, say something, don't avoid us like the plague! The manager stopped by the table behind us to apologize and comp half of their meal. (So funny because we knew the people in the booth!) Next time, we will go to the one in La Mesa . . .you may have to wait but at least you get the attention of the server and feel well taken care of. The Chula Vista store needs to get their act together . . .

Hands down worst customer service ever! You walk in and the hostess looks at you like she doesn't speak English when you ask for a booth seat. Then when you get seated it takes 5 minutes for someone to ask what you would like to drink and when she "Rosemary" shows up she rushes you to tell her what you would like to drink as she is impatiently looking around..then as you attempt to order she takes one persons order and assumes its for the both of you and turns and walks away..as she brings the food Rosemary decides she's just going to put it down and walk away, not even ask if we need ketchup or if everything else was okay..so we wait for her to FINALLY come back and when she does it takes another 5 min to bring back the items..all in the meanwhile of them talking very loudly about some other customers sitting 2 booths behind us. Very bad customer service!

Very nice staff, and fast service. Our waiter was very helpful and even helped me figure out what to get, he suggested a salad and I was thinking he probably never even tried the salad himself, but he insisted he has it every time he works the lunch shift, so I got it and it was just as good as he said it would be. Clean , nice service, and great food!

I usually go to La mesa BJ's but I was in the area and decided to stop by since we had a Facebook deal. We were seated fairly quickly however, once we were seated it was about 6-7 minutes before anyone even came by to greet us. Several servers passed us and I was not able to get anyone's attention. Once the server came by (no personality or apology) she took our order. we waited a long wait for our drinks and food. I don't know what happened to BJ's or if its just this location but I have never been disappointed with the food. THe dressing tasted watered down. The Shrimp tacos were zero taste and the worst hard no flavor tortillas served with a few measly chips on the side. They overcharged us for something and forgot to bring out one of our sides. Our original server left and was taken over by Chantil, who was a sweetheart and did her best to make up for the few things she could help.

Come on people!! Sometimes the complaints are because people want INSTANT everything! BJ's is not a fast food place, Thank God! Friday night, at 7:30 pm, with a Padre's game on and I took my 14 year old granddaughter!! Even she said the food was better (more choices, etc.). We were told there would be a 15-20 minute wait, however, were seated in two minutes. Now that's the start of good service! Yes, the bar area can be slow, but this was a very busy time, and the service, food and drinks were fine. Since there are plenty of food choices in this area, thanks BJ's for stepping it up a bit!! Will be back.

Came here with my family for my uncle's bday and did not have the best experience. I walked in to a not so friendly host that did not greet us when we walked in. This is a much larger Bj's restaurant than the one in La Jolla, which is the one I'd prefer to go to if I ever go back to another Bj's. I ended up ordering the Texas style country fried steak. It was TERRIBLE! The meat was dry and the gravy was way too salty. I ended up just eating the mashed potatoes, without the gravy, and the veggies. I didn't get to taste anyone elses, but from sauce on my nephew's face it seemed that the ribs weren't too shabby. I think the best dishes were the Apps. The service was pretty bad. Our waitress seemed to be pretty flustered when taking our orders and probably smiled 2 times. When it came time to bring our food, they brought out 2-3 dishes that we didn't order, which one of the dishes was charged on our bill! Overall, if you want to eat at Bj's go to the one in La Jolla. If you come to the one in Chula Vista, you're going to have a bad time.

The worst restaurant experience my family and I have ever had. Honestly, if I could give no stars at all, I would. The staff is not very accommodating. We were a party of 19 on a Friday night, and they do not take reservations, so we were expecting quite a wait. The hostesses told us an hour and a half to two hours. Which was fine, my brother in law really wanted to eat here for his birthday. However, what I don't understand is that there was an entire row of tables left open. My sister asked why we could not be seated there, the hostess told her that they had a waiting list. We absolutely understood that, however, no one was there longer than we were. So, my sister tried to ask if we could be seated there but the hostess said "no, that's for people on the waiting list. We are waiting on one more table to open up in the middle so we can seat you." Just a thought, the tables are not stuck together are they? Because as far as we could see, the tables in the middle were separated as well, therefore I don't see why we couldn't be accommodated first seeing as how we had waited for the longest time. There were not many people waiting any how and tables were available. Do you see the problem? The manager did not even wear a name tag. Horrible service. Then, we asked for another menu as the hostess walked by with arms full of menus, and she said "oh my hands are full, let me just go put these down then I can bring you one." What, twenty minutes later? Do not waste your time here. Terrible service, faulty tables, and OK food.

I excepted so much more was very disappointed my waitress Tai was awesome tho and that's the only reason for the 2 stars well and the abundance the TVs and huge screen at the bar was nice but the "FOOD" was very average at best i had Appetizers Buffalo Style Chicken Wontons - They were pretty good no complains. Spinach Stuffed Mushrooms- Was very good they give you 6 for like 3 dollars. Mini-Bruschetta - Was good no complains. The Great thing about BJs Snacks and Small Bites are there they very inexpensive. Dinner Chicken Marsala- Everything was fine except the chicken it was all chewy "WHAT THE HECK" This ain't gum baby lol. Had to send it back to replace the chicken with shrimp. The shrimps were a better choice. Texas-Style Chicken Fried Steak- It was good not great the mashed potatoes were cold and the pepper cream gravy was suppose to be a cream color it was grayish All in all i would go again but will just stick to the pizzas, burgers and beers from now on.

My Girl friend loves this place, me not so much, the very first time we had lunch at BJ's the waiter came out with our food and my girl friends sandwich was completely wrong, it's a sandwich for crying out loud I'm pretty sure it almost the easiest thing to make on the menu and my pasta was warm as if it was just sitting under a light in the kitchen, when we confronted the waiter he was completely rude about it. Our second trip to BJ's praying that it would be a better experience then the first, was if not way worst then the first visit this time we sit in the booths by the bar for happy hour we order chips and salsa and wings as an appetizer and for entrees I order a caesar salad and a tortilla soup, and my girl friend orders Sliders. 35 minutes go by still no appetizer, I mean come on how hard is it to bring chips and salsa out?? Now 40 mins go by I finally tell the waiter and he says oh yeah I forgot finally after 45 mins have gone by we get the appetizer and the entrees all at once. My girlfriend is never the one to complain about anything, it's always me, but this day she was furious, the manager was the only one who seemed to be doing his job right he ended up comp the bill. So thumbs up to him

This is the worst experience I have ever had at a restraunt. First the host . Then I order my food the waiter comes back saying they no longer serve that. Wtf then why is it on the menu, then the food takes forever to come out and it's not really busy when it finally gets here my order is wrong. Instead of leaving it and apologizing he takes it and it takes 15 more min for the girl waiter to bring the right food. Never did they apologize or try in any way to make up. I will never eat here again.

  • Christopher N.

The food here isn't all that great. The pizza is overrated and not good. I usually come here to only get the poozookies. Their service isn't great either. They make you wait a long time and sometimes they forget about your order.

Been to many different BJ's restaurants and frequent the one in Thousand Oaks and this one is not a good one. The service is horrible. Food is similar to the others but the service really makes the difference. I don't know if I will continue going to this one. It is so poor.

Brunch. Ordered the scrambled egg breakfast w/ no meat, food looked bland but ended up being pretty good. I asked about mimosa prices and the waitress seemed to drag on about how she didn't know off the top of her head..so I just stared at her until she decided to say she was going to ring one up to check the price. 8.50 is pretty damn expensive and they weren't that good..tasted like they used Cooks champagne.. All in all I'm pretty sure our waitress was hungover, unless she was actually that mean.. When we received our check we were charged the egg scramble breakfast w/ meat and when I mentioned it to our waitress, she seemed annoyed and said she was going to talk to her boss. When she brought the check back she didn't say anything, no sorry no nothing..and walked away. Over it.. Step it up Bjs, no wonder the place was empty.

BJ's is turning into one of my favorite restaurants. A plate of Angus Beef sliders with wedge cut fries and a Jeremiah Red beer...I am a happy dude. I've been here several times and its now my go to place when I can't decide what to eat. The menu us extensive, I love that. The wings and deep dish pizza is good and the craft beer ever better. I go back and forth between the Jeremiah Red and the Nutty Brewnette beers but usually go with the Red. I like their beers so much I tried to get some to go. FYI..only the La Mesa location would sell me the beers in a 6 pack. Been here for lunch and happy hour and left happy each time. The service has always been consistently good. I workout so I need to feel satisfied when I eat, and the portions here are plenty. The prices are great. Example: the Angus Beef sliders are $8.99 for four slider and only $1 more for fries. Whereas a lot of places would charge the same for three sliders and charge you three or four dollars more to add fries. Their draft beers are like $5.50 for a pint and like $3.50 during happy hour. So much to try with so little time. I'm going back...I'm starting to miss the Red.

Happy hour specials are served only at the bar. My favorites are the mac & cheese, chicken wraps, calamari & stuffed mushrooms. The beer selection is exceptional. The burgers are delicious and the special finale, the original pazooki is the best dessert ever!

BJ's has gone down hill since it opened up! Worst service and food. The last and very last time I go here. Very long wait and it wasn't even BUSY really? Root beer with no ICE? The manager must be smoking crack. Because no one is cracking a whip to move or motivate the people that work here. haha Little Caezar's pizza is better. Save your money people. Don't go here. They don't deserve to be in business.

This is a chain restaurant and it is just OK. The food is good and the beer selection is okay. There is nothing about this place that is special. I do like doing the beer tasting sampler with a cuban sandwich though.

I love BJ's!!! But this location sucks! Me and my friend went on a Thursday night and it was super busy. We were seated within 20 minutes and ordered drinks shortly after. We waited about another 20 minutes for our drinks and by that time we were ready to order so we ordered our food. Both of our dishes came with salads so we expected to receive them shortly. We waited a good 30 minutes before we finally got our salads. After that it took ANOTHER 30 minutes to get our entrees. When we were finished and ready to go it took forever to get checked out. We waited 20 minutes to get the actual check and another 20 minutes to pay and get our receipts back. It felt like we were in there for HOURS!!!! We left as soon as we could. I will never go to this location again..

It is abusoltely the worst restaurant customer service I have ever had in all the restaurants I've been in SD! And to add on that, the employees, especially, the waiters , I won't even HIRE them to clean up the bathroom! In addition to that, the salad was disgusting. I almost throw up, and they still made me paid for it. You just ruined my night. you are horrible just close up or higher some pretty nice ladies as waitresses instead of those ugly mean MEN waiters.

  • Kassandra R.

Food's ok. Not the most amazing thing in the world. Waitress sucked. We had a party of 6 not big at all. It wasn't a busy day either. She just had this attitude with us. It's your job as a waiter/waitress to keep customers happy. Complete disaster with the steak. Its was over cooked. Took forever just to get water.

I had dinner here tonight with some friends and throughout the night while we were there, I kept thinking how half-ass their service was! Really, it was pretty sad that a nice new restaurant in the mall had terrible service. We arrived and there's already a wait for a table in the very full main dining area on a Thursday night. That's fantastic for our economy, but screw the wait, we found an open booth in the bar area where seating is open, so that was a good start. Things went south quick though. Our server reminded me of Drew Barrymore's character in 50 First Dates because homie couldn't remember anything the minute he would walk away from our table. We had to flag him down several times to take our order, bring us water, bring out the soup my friend ordered before dinner, you get the picture. I only ordered an appetizer and one of their girly beers, my friends had some beer and entrees. My one friend ordered a French dip sandwich, but he got served a BBQ sandwich of some sort instead. It already took close to 45 minutes for our food to come out, so he just said f-it and ate it anyway, none of us wanted to wait much longer and they were both hungry boys. I'd go back if they worked out their kinks. I know they opened less than three months ago, but c'mon, help me help you! Speed up your service and train your servers to put on their happy faces and I'll give it another shot. You didn't quite have me at hello, but we'll get there.

Beer! They have beers from all around the world. They also have about a dozen BJ's-brewed beers: 8 regulars and a few seasonals. I recommend for first timers (and beer connoisseurs): TRY THE 9 BEER SAMPLER. They come out arranged from lightest to darkest, so you can get a feel for what fits you. Or you can look here: ( bjsbrewhouse.com/bj-beer… ) My personal favorite: Jeremiah Red. I have been around the world and have tried hundreds of beers and this one beer here at BJ's is my favorite beer of all time (understandably, your tastes may vary). I've been a regular here for the past two years and the thing that keeps bringing me back (besides their BJ's-brewed beers) are the pizzas! Deep dish, fresh ingredients. My personal favorite: The Mediterranean. It comes with grilled chicken, basil pesto, roasted garlic, Kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes, feta cheese and sliced peperoncinis. So fresh and so goood. QUICK TIPS: Go during happy hour (3pm - 7pm). Sit in the bar area. $1 off draft beers & cocktails. $2 off appetizers. (Chips & Salsa are awesome) HALF of mini-pizzas. Hopefully you will get good service - that seems to be the primary complaint on Yelp here. The only bad service I've had is from the bartenders, who seem to be really slow at placing orders. My server generally has to go ask at least twice. What gives? Also, a guy named Branden is probably the best waiter I've ever had there. That dude is #1 when it comes to service! Sadly, I am moving to Japan for 3 years (Navy) and will not get to enjoy BJ's anymore. So, if anything else, please go have a beer for me, and raise your glass to those serving to protect freedom! Thank you!

The food is good, don't get me wrong. My friend and I shared an appetizer, and each ordered an entrée. The appetizer (potstickers) was really good and came out right away. But the wait for our entrees starting getting long, and that's when we noticed that the people next to us who probably got seated half an hour after we ordered already had their meals. I flagged down our waiter and he brought the food out shortly after, but it was just much too long a wait. And no discount/comp for the slow service. Oh, and on a Friday/Saturday night parking is a pain and a half.

  • Joseph B.

If you want slow service that gets your order wrong after waiting forever then go to this place. I went to CV BJ when they first opened and service was awful. Went for my girlfriends nephews B-day dinner a couple weeks ago and guess what?? No, its actually worse then 5 years ago. Its ashame because the menu and food are not half bad, but poor management and service...worse ive ever see......never again

Will only come back for a pazookie! The pizza was gross! We ordered a deep dish pizza and first off the dough rose too much where there was nothing deep about it and it was under cooked! Gag! No sauce and hardly any cheese on the pizza! On the better side our salads were okay and we did have a really good server.

    (2)
  • Jocelyn C.

I wish I had better things to say about this place! Who doesn't love the Pizookie? That is probably their saving grace. Service-wise our server was pleasant and nice enough, but it just seemed like that was about it. Not very engaging, but maybe it was because we were a big party on a Friday night? He forgot to put in our order for the flatbread pizza. We ordered small bites; spinach stuffed mushrooms, bruschetta, and meatballs...I have had better. One of the people we were with was not feeling well, tried to order hot tea but apparently they ran out of tea. Offered her hot water, lemon, and honey, which she accepted but then charged her for tea anyway. What was that about? She did get that taken off the bill, but it shouldn't have been there in the first place. Don't think I'll be back here for a while...

It was my first time trying a deep dish pizza and after my experience here, I really look forward to try more deep dish pizzas in other restaurants! However, the ambiance was nice. Nothing too particular with the taste of their deep dish pizza (it reminded me of Pizza Hut). It is still a great place to be in and have a few drinks in. Their pizookie was pretty good. :)

    (3)
  • Jordan S.

Pretty good, I guess. I mean it's BJ's. The pizza is super good yes, and the pazookies will hit anyone's sweet tooth, but it's not like incredible food. Comfort food for sure. You don't need a Yelp review to hit up a BJ's.

  • Alex S.

Before I continue, I want to let everyone reading this know that my review is strictly for the BJ's in Chula Vista. I have visited many BJ's and I love the food. However, this one was completely off. First of all, when I walked in, I was not greeted was not asked How many people. When I approached and reception table the lady completely ignored me and I don't know if she wrote anything down or even know we even existed. Once seated at the table. It was 20 mins before any waiter came and greeted our table. (I was about to walk out). Our waiter was completely rude and unprofessional. We had to ask 3 maybe 4 times just to get our drinks and silverware. Now for the food. Like I have said before, BJ's food is awesome. But we had orders two soups and I asked For mine in a bread bowl. My boyfriend and I got the same soup and and there was a night and day difference between ours soups. Mine was warm, steamy and good. His was luke warm and you can tell it had been siting out. We asked to get a new one and they took it back and when brought a "new one" it was probably the same one. Lastly, when we were paying we put our gift card of $30 and then a $20 bill to finish it off. For a person that works in food industry one should know to take the money from the gift card and then the cash. NOoope. They took the cash first then the card. We got $7 back on the card... We asked the waiter why he did the transaction that way. And he couldn't give us a reason. When we asked to re do the transaction. He said he couldn't. Sooo we were very upset and will not be returning to this BJ's

Stop by to have anniversary lunch with my wife... Been here before and had a great experience... 12:53 Tuesday and it seems like it's starting to pickup! Staff is very friendly and we were seated quickly... Great environment and clean! Cons: -A/C is High! - Our appetizer came out pretty quick but our main orders still haven't came out yet! Over 45 mins! And it's just my wife and I.... Was seated at 12:50 now it's 1:55.... Food finally came out and it was delicious. It sucked cause we only had 10mins to eat

BJ's in Chula Vista open mall is a big restaurant with a sports bar. I remember my first time here, the immediate impression was, I'm inside a theater with dimmed lighting just before the movie starts. The sports bar is brighter than the dining area because of the light emitted by the big screen tv. The host seated us and left and then the wait staff came with the menu. Asked us what to drink and left. Several minutes later came back and took our order. We ordered the jambalaya, shrimp scampi (my favorite) and calamari. We didn't see the wait staff for quite a while. I guess there's a lot of walking to cover since the place is bigger than normal size restaurant. So, if you need something just stop one of the wait staff passing by.

Way to expensive for what the provide. Service is good food is crap!! Food is way to expensive and so are the drinks. The bartenders need to take some classes on making drinks and maybe chefs need to take classes on making food. Waiters are cool though

  • Nienke W.

We had a great experience here. We were waited on by an enthousiastic serving girl who wasn't intimidated by our group of 13 nerds. Ambiance was nice, felt hip! I still don't like to see tv screens in restaurants, but thats seems to be an American thing. My love and I had the Seares Ahi Salad, and it was great! Tuna was tender and full of flavour, wasabi was heavenly spicey and the salad retained a great taste untill the last bite. You know how salads sometimes start of great and suddenly you are left with only lettuce!? Not this one! Yum!

Service sucks so much here and I ordered a pazookie and it was uncooked it was all raw dough so gross I can't even deal and my waiter wasn't even sorry about it....update Jennifer the general manager called me and she was amazing and apologized and I love that!!

My boyfriend and I go here frequently for lunch on the weekends or dinner during the week. He loves craft beer and when I want to drink, they offer cider on tap or mimosas for me. The food is always awesome and the service is usually pretty good, depending on how busy they are. We have tried and recommend the shrimp scampi and parmesan crusted chicken. Also, the chicken tortilla soup is the best around and we ALWAYS get the carnitas chile verde fries appetizer, but honestly it could be a full meal in itself! We will continue to frequent this spot :)

Food was very good. Good selection. Staff was helpful. I recommend the triple Decker sandwich. Was the bomb dizzie.. Great kids meals selection as well such as chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese, mini hot dogs and sides such as mashed potatoes, fries, fruit, etc.. Bar and nice family environment.. Not too pricy.

The drinks were strong, the bartender Carlos was really nice and our food was good. The potato skins we ordered were good. A bit on the dry side but nothing ranch couldn't fix and a little extra sour cream.

I love their pizza & chicken wings. If youre not a rewards member... sign up now! Great happy hour specials. used to come here often since it was across the street from my previous employer. In one week i came here 4 times for my farewell with different co-workers --- and i still didnt get tired of their menu. Their mini dish pizza for 1 meal is soooooo good! Comes with a side salad. The tomato sauce has chunks of tomatos and the crust is so thick and soft. I never share my mini pizza with anyone... sometimes ill offer just to be nice but hoping my friend will say "no thank you" then im like YAASSSS all mine! ha!

We first walked in and a male waiter slammed the glass door on his way out. Had to wait 11 minutes for someone to take our drink order. Another waiter came by and said that he would be helping us. We just got introduced to another waiter that he would take over our table. Wow! Third waiter in 10 minutes. JB was awesome!

Every time I come here I leave happy, stuffed and satisfied! The employees are great, here. Very polite, respectful, and helpful. The food never takes long to come out, and the drinks are pretty damn good. They have lunch specials, so definitely stop by here if you're looking for some lunch during the week. The appetizers are well sized. I recommend ordering the avocado egg rolls (I think that was the name, might be a bit off). They come with this sauce to dip them in and oh my, you'll not want to share any! Enjoy :)

This Bjs seems to always be short staffed when I come in. They definitely need more help at this location! But on to positive reviews Bjs is a great restaurant whether your looking for pasta, pizza, chicken, ribs, salads or just looking to have drinks they have got you covered. Great portion sizes and it's very affordable! I love this place!

My friends and I visited this BJs on Saturday night. We were greeted by two very nice hostesses and decided to sit in the bar. There were plenty of empty tables, however none of them were clean. We stood around for a few minutes waiting for someone to offer to clean a table for us. Servers kept walking by, but nobody offered to help us, so I went back to the hostess to ask her instead. She was very nice about it and told me she would send someone over, but nobody came. After standing in the bar for another five minutes or so without being helped, we decided to bus our own table and grab menus from other empty tables. Nobody ever apologized or offered to wipe the table that we ended up bussing ourselves. Once we sat down, everything seemed to happen in slow motion --the service definitely wasn't fast. My strawberry margarita tasted like it didn't have any alcohol in it, but the carnitas fries were SO good. They came in a mini pizza pan with fries on the bottom and all the toppings on top. The only negative experience with the food is that we didn't get silverware. I had to track down my server, and when she finally came with silverware, she only brought one set which didn't make sense because there were clearly three of us. All in all, the carnitas fries made the experience decent, but I don't know if they are worth coming back for considering the fact that we had to bus our own table.

Came here on a Monday night, the server was very attentive. Ordered an appetizer, two drinks, two entrees, and a dessert. All of them came out at appropriate times. Server refilled the drinks without us asking and was very courteous. He even helped us bag out leftovers. I got the quinoa chicken and spinach bowl, it was delicious. I asked for it without mushrooms, it came out perfectly and tasted amazing.

You know what you're going to get when you come to this place. Food is solid, drinks are good, and so is the service. I had the barbecue bison burger, and it was excellent. The Mojito was very refreshing. I wish it wouldn't have had so much ice in it. There was one dessert that has less than 1000 cal. Watch out for that!

The spaghetti was overcooked so it was somewhat mushy. It had no firmness at all. As far as the marinara sauce it tasted very good but the chef did not put enough sauce so it tasted bland. Fortunately, I brought it up to my bartender who was more than happy to bring an extra side of marinara sauce which I was thankful to her for. Afterward, I ordered the brussels sprouts. It was my first time ordering that dish. It tasted burned. However, I assumed that that was the smoky flavoring mentioned in the description. After a while though I could no longer tolerate the strong taste and I pointed it out to my bartender and I asked her if it was me or was the Brussels sprouts burned? She looked at it and thought it looked burned as well. She tested the aroma and said that it did smell burned. She brought it up to the other bartender who confirmed that it was in fact burned. Although I was not charged for the dish, I was quite disappointed as I really like brussels sprouts. I really enjoy coming to the bar at this restaurant but this is the first time that the quality of the food was really bad. Perhaps it was because it was late, but overcooked and mushy spaghetti and burned Brussels sprouts on the same day is a bit overboard. The one star rating is for the chefs in the kitchen only and is not a reflection of the the female bartending staff who are awesome as always!

In simple capsule form...WOW! This is turning into one of my favorite spots. The service staff is spot on and the food consistently very good. What sets it apart is Jennifer, the General Manager who is as professional as they come. She was kind enough to sit down today with my son and me. We talked about food a little bit and she showed me some phone applications that makes BJ's stand out. I appreciated her time. She's precious. I'm a former Food & Beverage Director in San Diego and Las Vegas and if I was still in the business Jennifer would be working with me. I guarantee that. :) We will be back soon.

Horrible service. Okay food. Delicious pizookie. Hostess seated us soon after we arrived and left us with menus. We sat and waited for our server for nearly 15 minutes. She came once to get the drinks, take the order, give us the check, total of three times. She'd ask if we were doing okay, wouldn't even let us answer when she'd be walking away.

I came here with my family last Saturday. We were here late afternoon around 4pm and the place was not too busy at the time. The young African-American woman working the hostess counter was kinda rude and sporting a nonchalant attitude as well. None of us cared for it. We were made to feel unwelcome and if she could care less if we stayed or walked out the door. That said, we stayed. After that encounter, we had a waitress who was unpleasant and got my drink order wrong twice. Meanwhile, I saw her chatting it up with a fellow employee at their register work station rather then bringing me my correct drink from the bar. About 15 minutes into our dining experience, our waitress told us that she would be leaving and a new waiter would be taking care of us from that moment forward. We were all fine with that, no loss there whatsoever. Our new waiter seemed to be preoccupied about something else other than his customers as well. It was at that time that I began to notice that most ALL of the employee's were walking around the dining room area looking as if they just got their butts chewed by the Boss or they all just simply did not want to be at work that day? It was kind of a bummer because my wife and I had been at this same restaurant about a month prior and all was very good on that day. I do not know what happened or why, but what I do know is that I will not be coming back to this place. Too many other restaurants that will least pretend to be glad that I am there while getting my cocktail order correct. I DO NOT recommend this establishment.

    (6) of us had dinner there Monday 6:00 p.m. 8/3/15. Not crowded. Ordered salads/sandwiches. Food came in (3) waves. (4, then 1, then the last one). So we waited. I finally flagged down a waitress serving another section and asked that my wives meal be canceled. Her meal was finally (flatbread) served when several of our party had finished, and others had almost finished. They did not charge us, but I believe a restaurant should know that the whole table will wait for the last meal, so why can't they execute a simple task of all food prepped and delivered??? My salad was below average. Not quite fresh, but not spoiled. I have 100's of choices, so sorry I chose this place. Obvious very poor management. Save yourself the aggravation and go to any nearby restaurant where they can execute basic service and place a decent meal in front of you and your family.

BJ's is my favorite restaurant, however this location is not my favorite. Customer service needs work, their pazookie never disappoints but their food at this location can be a hit or miss. We come here because it's closer to our house but we seem to receive better service and the quality of food is a huge difference at the La Mesa location. I asked for a fork, the first waitress who wasn't our original waitress (she was serving our food) told me their weren't any and all they had were plastic forks. Our waitress (who has been serving us all night) came to our table with a fork and butter knife wrapped inside the napkin. Once I opened it I was in total disgust and in disbelief of what I saw! There was food on the fork as if it's never been cleaned! Whoever is reading this, please take the time to look at your silverware and not just BJ's but any restaurant! We were so grossed out we asked to use plastic forks. The manager came to our table and said "I heard there was a dirty utensil, can I see it? I'll talk to my bus boy" and that was it! Will definitely be contacting corporate TOMORROW!

Another workday lunch time and between all the choices we had at Chula Vista Center, BJ's Brewhouse always sticks in my mind as a great place to grab a good lunch. This location was quite dead for the lunch crowd at the time, very quiet. Atmosphere was great and the place was really top notch clean. Service was outstanding, our waiter was great about offering the lunch specials and really catered to keeping our ice tea's full. I went with my usual lunch special of the chicken tacos with a side of black beans. You really can't beat the price of $5.95 for a good sized lunch. My coworker ordered the ham sandwich lunch special, but also wanted to try the Twisted BLT salad on the side which peaked my interest to try one also. The twisted BLT salad was a really good salad which came with spinach, boiled egg, bacon, cheese and bits of corn. Definitely better than getting a plain ole house salad. This location of BJ"s Brewhouse was a great place to stop in for lunch and their prices definitely beat their competition out in the area.

Came here with a party of 8, waiter was very disorganized from the start. Slight mess ups with drink orders but nothing too bad until our food came out. He put the wrong entree in, so we all got our food besides one person. Came back to reassure her that what she ordered is what she got and we had to read the ingredients for him so he could finally see it was the wrong entree. He did not refill beverages and took over 20 minutes to bring the check. P.S. The party next to us left after too long of a wait. Get your restaurant staff together.

5 stars to our server, forgot your name, sorry and the manager on duty, Drew. Docked a star because my ribeye was cold and my best friend's salad didn't come out. Yes, there was mishaps with service/food tonight. But most importantly, the manager was around to help the issues. We appreciate and respect that the most from any restaurant establishment. Thanks Drew for taking care us and making sure our food got out to us.

I've been here a few times before and the food has been okay. I went more recently for dinner with my family and we were all very displeased with the quality of the entrees/main dishes. My husband ordered a tri-tip stroganoff (some new seasonal dish) and had to send it back because it had absolutely no taste. My sister ordered the scallops plate and the scallops tasted as if they were previously frozen and then boiled. The veggies on her plate were over-cooked and shriveled. I ordered a chicken alfredo pasta plate and also felt that the pasta was very bland hand had no taste. I've had sandwiches and burgers from here before, and have always felt satisfied. For some reason their main dishes seem to fall flat. The reason this recent visit was so disappointing was because the drinks and appetizers we had ordered were amazing! The avocado egg rolls were delicious & crispy, the deep fried artichoke was savory, and the carnitas fries were incredibly flavorful. I would recommend coming to BJ's for drinks and appetizers, but you'd be better off staying away from the main dishes, because they're basic and tasteless.

The drinks were great and they have an array of beers. Downfall is the amount of time you wait for either service or your food. 2 simple entrees that consisted of tacos and a lettuce wrap took over an hour. I flagged someone down to ask and it turned out they were delivered to another table. You would think our server would have noticed but nope. He contacted his manager and said we would get "fresh food" ....were you not planning to? Like fresh food is compensation for bad service or something. I will not be returning to this establishment.

Took my mother to celebrate our birthdays and had one of the worse birthday dinners ever. We love to come to this BJS location because of the great staff, service and food, but were severely disappointed during this visit. We waited about 10 minutes to have our drink order taken, and about 30 more to receive our food. We ordered a couple of appetizers along with an entree and expected to have the items brought out in waves like they usually are, but that wasn't the case. After waiting for minutes without the waters we had ordered we were ambushed with every single thing we had ordered, with some of the items being cold. When the food was brought out, we did not have napkins, utensils or plates and were left stranded with no way to eat our food for an additional 10 minutes. Several waiters walked by and say they would bring utensils and plates but never did. Needless to say, our food is cold and dull, and we were left with no desire to buy a birthday cake at the end :( #worsebirthdayever I really do not understand why I keep coming back.

I have been trying to give this place a chance for a few years. Used to always go here with friends and family. If they can get their management and service right, the food is actually pretty good. However, service and management is HORRIBLE!! The last time we were there, (Thursday Night after 9pm) we had a group of 7. We had to ask 3 people to find out who our waiter was going to be after sitting there for 20 minutes without anyone acknowledging us. Then, we get a young waiter with an attitude. When he was told to come to our table, we watched him take his time and chat with Coworkers and come to our table when he was good and ready. After that, it was just all downhill. I'll never come to this place again and I'll make sure to tell all my friends and family not to. Management or Ownership needs to get a clue. You have a Buffalo Wild Wings that just moved in right next to you and if BJ's is not careful, this place is gonna hand them their packing papers.

Just got done eating here ... Leave the restaurant not even for 2'minutes... And remember I left 3/4 of my pizza in the to go box . And they tell me they threw it away!? Not even 2 minutes cmon BJs staff. Have some type of lee way before you throw away your customers food. Especially almost a whole freakin pizza. Horrible experience .Food was decent . Horrible server that's why we left . Stacking cups on the side of our table like it was a dish washer rack... Won't be back here

I love coming to this restaurant late at night, especially because it is one of the few restaurants open late at night in Chula Vista. The food always meets my expectations. I regularly order Bloody Marys and Dirty Martinis with every meal. When it comes to my drinks it is really a hit or miss. But other than that, this is one of my favorite go to late night restaurants.

I grew up in a part of the country where there are no BJ's. I've known about BJ's for about 10 years but never patronized it because based on the name and logo, I thought it was a divey diner type of place (seriously, they need a new logo.) My husband suggested BJ's as we were looking for a place to eat before going to a movie and there was a 40 minute wait at Chili's and Buffalo Wild Wings looked crowded. Once inside I realized it was neither diner nor divey. This place is almost like the cheesecake factory, but less elaborate. It's a "Nicer" chain with massive menu. We got a seat at a booth and got great service. Our appetizer/fried food was pretty tasty, although the portions could have been a bit larger for the price. On our second visit we sat in the bar area and had horrible service. On the second visit I got an entree which was really bland and disappointing. Not impressive enough to return. The BJ's beers were okay, but nothing to write home about. Overall an average experience.

I love BJ's. Unfortunately, I have bad news to report about this particular location. First off, while eating our appetizer's, the server spilled a drink all over my wife's lap. He apologized profusely so I didn't give it a second thought at the time. We moved over two tables because a couple had just departed from the table next to us and it hadn't been cleaned off yet. After the staff cleaned up the mess that the drink made, they left the wet towels along with the dishes of the departed guest on that table the entire time we were there eating. My wife had the Cajun chicken pasta and I had the chili stuffed potato. The food was good, but again here we are looking at the wet towels and dirty dishes while we are eating. When the check came, I was amazed that they didn't give us a discount for the problems we had to deal with. The result of all of it was a $0.00 tip. We won't be going back to this location.

Not the level of service I expected! Food was great but waiters were very unattentive. Once i asked someone for more drinks they responded by asking who's our waiter and took there time in bringing them after we were practically done with our meal. Hesitant to come back to this restaurant.

Just went for lunch. The service was terrible from the second we walked in to the time we left. Everything was extremely slow including the seating process and the restaurant was not very busy at all. In places like this, I feel like the problem stems from management be non existent on the floor. Even the food was inconsistent with other BJ's I have eaten at. This restaurant should be re evaluated. It seemed very disorganized.

Worst experience ever. Server was so slow we had to go to the bar to get our own drinks. I was really disapointed with the overall demeaner of our server. Not even a little apologetic about how long it took for everything including how long it took us to even be greeted. The 1 star is for Amanda the bartender and also the food runner that brought me some ranch. It would have taken 20 min to get ranch had I ordered it from my server.

Not bad. Sitting at the bar. Got here at 240 so I got a good deal on a pint. Then happy hour started at 3 and got a good deal on food. Nice place to chill if you have time, I like to dine so I don't mind a slow pace..food comes out at an average time frame. Service is good.

When the Address of this location is wrong on Yelp, you know it's a precursor to all things wrong! First is first... I don't think its too much to ask for when our orders are being taken, that the server would take their time and not rush. Rush in way that they completely disregarding taking the drink order of someone and when we tried to call him back he couldn't hear. STRIKE ONE! One thing I was craving for going to eat at BJs, a deep dish cheeseburger pizza. Mind you, this was at 7pm on a Sunday evening. The first blow was that they tell us that they ran out of deep dish pizza!!! Umm... really, you ran out of something that you are quite known for. So they try to make us feel better by telling us that they will give us 2 large regular pizzas since we ordered a large deep dish that was half and half. Fine, it felt like a good enough compensation but that was STRIKE TWO! Then came the shift change. I am never a fan of shift change. Service would always drop 50% during a shift change. No strike here, just dislike that one fact. So when it came time for dessert, another thing that we were craving for. We ordered a pizookie that was split half and half chocolate chip cookie and their new flavor oreo. Well, guess what, the "temporary" server came back after about 5 minutes to tell us that they ran out of chocolate chip cookie. Are you serious... was the look on our faces when our "temporary" server told us. What can we do, we went with another flavor. Red Velvet cookie. STRIKE THREE! They should be out by now, but wait..... So here is the icing on top of the already Three Strike cake. I don't know, but in every restaurant that I've pretty much been to, when you order dessert, its a given assumption that everyone in the Table would share. Well our table had 5 people but we got 4 spoons. So we waved our server to ask for another spoon. Would you believe that his response to us was "we ran out of small spoons and they had to put a load in the wash". So we looked at the spoons that he gave us, 2 small dessert spoons and 2 soup spoons. Did they go to San Diego zoo to borrow the monkeys that's running / managing this location??? That's 4 STRIKES for this place. To Management: Please tell me if you were sitting in our booth and was given the excuses and service we were given, would YOU like it??!?! If you tell me yes, I will shake your hand because I would like to congratulate you for being an idiot. I rarely give 1 stars. But this was just ridiculous!

1 star is being generous. I came to this bjs restaurant on a sunday afternoon thinking.. yes service may be slow cause of football sunday. When I arrived it was slow and got seated right away. After being seated. . A big group was seated next to me within 5 minutes of waiting. I waited 15 minutes before walking up to a hostess to request a waiter to at least take a drink order. (I was ready to order as well). A few minutes after the hostess went to get the waiter. He arrived but went to the larger group completely ignoring me. Wow. I dont know if its just this restaurant or the chula vista mall but service is always horrendous here and at buffalo wild wings. I have nothing against the quality of the food.. hence coming here after a previous bad experience.. although is it too much for better service? A friendly tip for those thinking of coming here.. I'd call and order take out.. that way you wouldnt have to worry about being ignored.

I had an amazing time there. I had good company and we only came to the restaurant for their famous pizookies. But to complement our dessert only meal, we had an amazing waiter named Sarah ( I think) @ 01/03/14 around the afternoon. She gave us various descriptions of the pizookie and at the end gave her recommendations which I followed. The pizookies were amazing, and the waiter made the environment so much sweeter. Thank you for that & I will 100% be back for either dessert or to try out more menu items for lunch/dinner. This gets a 5 star for customer service and quality desserts.

WOW, the waitress I had sucked so bad. Her name was Ilssia or something like that, she had curly hair, tied in a bun. She didn't know the menu and took forever to get us the food. Also, she never refilled our water- knowing its like 90 degrees outside. The sad part is she didn't even 3 tables. She cared more about socializing with other servers than helping her customers. I am just really shocked by this BJs lack of customer service skills. Also, if you check my reviews, I rarely give out bad reviews, but this place.... Don't come here if you expect a long wait, rude customer service, and expect to be thirsty.

Hm.. Come to think of it, I have never actually chosen to come eat here. It's always been at the request of whomever I'm hanging out with. Definitely a step above any 2 for $20 establishments. BJ's offers a casual ambiance and a great affordable variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts. I have had a few dishes here and haven't been disappointed yet. Great place to hang out and have a few drinks and watch some sports (not sure about fights or UFC), or an intimate celebration. Customer service isn't the best that's for sure. But with that being said, isn't the worst either. :)

I'm sorry I have to say it but the service here is awful. The restaurant wasn't even busy! I could easily forgive them if it was during the lunch or dinner rush but it was 2pm and there were servers and empty tables everywhere. Still, the service was ridiculously slow and my actual server was not very friendly. He never smiled...not once! Also puzzling to me is why he would serve my 2-year old daughter orange juice in a lowball glass??? Seriously? How odd and thoughtless is that? I had to taste the damn thing just to make sure it wasn't a screwdriver or something. Not to mention the fact that she's not exactly nimble enough to hold a heavy glass like that all by herself. So every time she tried to drink her juice, I had to drop everything and hold it steady for her. Geez! Also, we didn't even get any utensils. I had to ask for them AFTER our food came out. As for our food, my salad came out with no dressing. Really? At least put it on the side if you're not going to add it to the salad before serving it. I can only assume that perhaps something was going on in the kitchen that led to the slow service or maybe our server was just new. Either way, I know we weren't the only ones being affected. I spent so much of my meal time sitting and waiting that I observed other tables around me getting apologies about the wait from their own servers, as well as a man who I can only assume was the manager on duty. For that, I didn't withhold leaving my server my normal 25% tip for our meal because I'm sure he was doing his best (or at least I hoped he was). But, this experience did leave me with a bad taste in my mouth and for that, I know I will not be returning here anytime soon.

I didn't even get to get a glass of water. Sat down at the bar at about 11pm on a Fri night and the bartenders were already cleaning up. We waited. And waited. And waited. Until finally one bartender said he'd be with us in a min and left some menus. Then we waited. And waited. And then left. I get you want to go home but every client that walks in is money in your pocket and you should take care of them better.

2nd time coming to this place & I will not be back! Service- although the waitresses are sweet, they don't know the menus, therefore, can't make recommendations. Food lacks flavor, slow...sloooooow service. Just all around messy. Bummer! Chula Vista, we need some amazing restaurants!

Atmosphere is nice, tv's everywhere. Brewery has nice assortment. I had the jambalaya and it was fantastic. The wife and child both had a pizza and were mildly satisfied. I'd eat there again.

Extremely long wait! Wait for a table, wait for drinks n wait for food. For a family friendly restaurant, that's a no no! We had to wait 25minutes to receive a table when there were many empty tables. I asked if they were short staffed and they said yes, but waiters are clocking in as they had to wai a few hours before clocking in. The management of this BJs was clearly unorganized throughout. Never go there if you want to leave in under 1.5 hours. One positive is that the food was great as always, but not worth the wait.

Came by last Thursday because BWW was packed! My family and I wanted to watch the Chargers game but the wait at Buffalo Wild Wings was re-donky-lous! We ended up here by default. Wait wasn't too bad. It was about 15 mins prior to arrival. We asked if they were serving Happy Hour menu and the waiter told us since the bar area was packed, we would be able to order from the HH menu. Normally you can only order HH at the bar. That was a bonus! We ordered a mini BJ's favorite pizza, avocado rolls, calamari, buffalo wings, some kind of salad, cheeseburger. Even ordered a pizookie w/vanilla ice cream for dessert. The calamari was a bit too greasy and the buffalo wings were just okay. Everything was about average. Service was also up to par. The waiter was pretty attentive. The food here is better than the La Mesa branch. Is that possible? Only thing that sucks about this place is they don't play the sound of the TV. But, we did get to watch the Chargers!

Let me first say that the reason this restaurant has two stars at all is because of the tasty pizookie that they offer. Food is half of what makes a restaurant truly great, the other half is how it is all presented. For this BJ's fails terribly. Each time I have come here with my youth group on a Sunday evening after church, we wait on average for 45 minutes to receive an appetizer. Add on another 30 minute wait and you'll finally receive your main dish. The waiter had not once came back to check on us or reassure us that our food was on the way and instead we were left at our table for the full 45 minutes. I am usually not as adamant about this kind of thing but BJ's truly does not know how to treat their customers and I say this about ALL BJ's because this has happened at several other BJ restaurants. All-in-all, I am rather disappointed.

OHH Holly crap this place is freaking slow!!! Me and 3 friends showed up at 5:45pm for dinner. We planned on catching a 730pm movie. We thought this would be enough time to have dinner and be at the theater just after 7pm. Good lord we should have arrived at 5pm. Freakin thing about it, the place wasn't that busy!! Especially for the amount of staff working!! Absolutely ridiculous! I've been to a BJ's in Norcal and experienced similar service. I'll pass BJ's up regardless of where it is. The food was good once i got it, however, It's not worth the wait. Go somewhere else

manager- not sure if it was Jack the manager but he was very helpful since the hostess was not as helpful. We walked in because we saw the lunch special 5.95 and up sign outside. When we walked in the hostess asked if party of 2, I said it was to go and wanted to see the lunch specials. She just gave me a menu and turned around and kept on talking to another coworker. I asked where was the specials and she didnt hear me so I was looking over the menu trying to find specials, was ready to walk out when manager came up and pointed to specials and gave us information about the menu. So we place order and food was good- had the chicken quesadillas with black beans.

Visited on 9/7/13. Very bad service and long waiting time. Lots of empty tables but long wait time for food. The flat bread pizza was good, ribs very dry. This my first review I don't like to write reviews but I had for this one. manager needs training. Told her about the bad reviews on Yelp she says I don't listen to yelp does are unhappy people. I guest I am in that category. She took about $15 off our bill, she though that would fix everything. My time with my family was more important I don't mind paying more to have a better experience. My wife nephew wanted to go there for the flat bread pizza....

The last couple times I've been here, was mainly for the pizookies, after dinner a few doors down at BWW. We usually order the pizookie trio. The most recent time, last Thursday, we ordered the trio of chocolate chunk, peanut butter, and triple chocolate. I mostly enjoyed the original chocolate chunk pizookie, but I can only have so much! It's always so sweet, and I hate when the cookie starts getting hard. Could be from the ice cream on top, or just from getting cold, Idk. Anyway, our waitress was really nice. I'll probably end up coming back for more pizookies if I'm in the area and crave dessert, lol.

Customer service was four thumbs up!! Dangit, I totally forgot our server's name. I wanted to compliment her because she was sooo nice even though they were about to close. It was the night before my bday. I wanted to celebrate right as the hand struck midnight! There weren't many other restaurants open, so I decided to head here. I also got a free mini chocolate chip pizzoki! It was really good. If you've never had a PiZZOKi, you're really missing out. Really! It's pretty much this huge cookie w/ice cream on top. The cookie is always moist and mouthwatering! My bf's chicken wings were really good too. Crispy and hot off the plate! It was a great start to my bday...

I love there hand crafted beers. There avacodo rolls are yummy. And the pizza is good too. There a bit pricey but what can I say it's at the mall and tAx is high. But the food is good they just need to work on there service. But every server is different some are new some have been there or some just having a bad day but other then that I love comming to eat here. They have so many Tvs to. And it's not far from home either :)

I love BJ's! The beer is great and the food rocks. The bar and ambient is always good. I have not had a bad experience here and I've been here quite a bit. Their pizza is the bomb!

Honestly, I've never had a worse restaurant experience. Tonight was my birthday dinner with my family- my fiancé's parents met my grandparents for the first time- I wasn't expecting excellence being a party of 9, but this dis-service was extraordinary. Thus, prompting me to create a yelp account. Our server was, Corina. She struggled with a thick accent, but that was the least of her pitfalls. When our order started to arrive on the table she was MIA, for 20 minutes thereafter, MIA. When the food arrived by unpleasant food runners, our meals were shlepped in front of us. Side dishes almost sliding off our plates- Such a turn off. Finally, a manager came over and settled our outstanding requests for missing meals, steak sauce, and drink refills. He was very helpful. But when our dinner had been sitting 20 minutes already, it was too little, too late. I was really embarrassed. Thankfully, my family just laughed it off and didn't make a public scene. The manager comp'ed our dessert, but I felt the punishment outweighed the reward in this instance. We won't be coming back.

Is is fare to give a restaurant a 1 star rating when you haven't eaten there? Yes, and I'll tell you why... The wife and I walk in on a Friday around 3:45 pm to a hostess who had her back to us because she was doodling on a note pad. It wasn't until I cleared my thought and said hello she turned around. Then the following conversation happened... Hostess "Table or booth?" Me "Booth please" Hostess "Oh all the booths are dirty" Wife "We can wait, we prefer a booth" Hostess, "Well, don't know how long before they are clean, will be a while. Go check up at the bar area and come back to let me know if there are any open" She said all this with an attitude, like we were bothering her for making her do her job. As we walked up to the bar area you could see the main floor where 5+ tables were dirty with messy dishes. By the time we got up to the bar I was ticked off and decided to leave. My wife stayed behind to speak with a manager because we don't like to leave a bad review with out making the manager aware of the situation. The manager was just as bad as the hostess. He only looked at my wife with a blank stare and asked if we wanted the table wiped down. A simple apology would have gone a long way, then I would have tried a different location.

Appetizers were good, but the entrees are hit or miss. Tonight was a total miss! Shrimp scampi pasta sauce so bland, the water they cooked the pasta in probably had more flavor. My hubby ordered a personal deep dish pizza. It looked very unappealing. Little to no sauce, and it was cold. Where I draw the line was that my little boy's meal came after all the entrees, when we ordered with the appetizers.

We have been here several times. Family friendly and as usual the food was great! But our waiter Joshua was the worst. He Never brought out plates for appetizers. Only refilled drinks once ....we needed another refill that we never got. Even took forever to pick up the check. :(

I like BJs because there's always something for everyone (like Cheesecake Factory), and the food ranges from good to great. This time I tried their new spicy meatball, deep dish pizza and it was AWESOME! Their deepdish isn't like Chi-town style where it's like a pizza pie with toppings on top of the upper crust, no this is more like a very fluffy crust. Also I had the wedge salad, so delicious! And their crafted Root Beer is AWESOME if you're a rootbeer fan! Better than any out-of-the-can RB I've ever had. Parking is in the mall parking lot, so finding a spot can be difficult, but we showed up at 9pm on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. They have a full bar too, which is AWESOME.

I really enjoyed our service from Amanda, she was very courteous and friendly. The wings were awesome and the burger was good, kids menu chicken pasta was ok, what I did not like was the Buffalo chicken pizza, they used a hickory smoked bbq sauce that had no business being there next time I will go with the usual peperoni and play it safe other than that everything including our service was good

Came to dinner tonight with my boyfriend (after he was craving pizookie). The hostess told us we could sit in the bar area where it was open seating. We ended up sitting at a booth near the bar. Absolute worst customer service I have ever had!! Her name was Candice B. Don't get me wrong.. She was very attentive and nice to my boyfriend, but was very rude to me. She never asked me if I wanted another glass of wine, never asked how my food was and when I asked her for ranch, she looked at me and said "what's up" with a rude look. I felt extremely uncomfortable and my boyfriend noticed how rude she was being. He instantly asked for the check after he saw how uncomfortable I was and how rude she was. (He never got to eat his pizookie he was craving) I honestly felt like she knew me and just hates my guts. After working the restaurant industry for over 8 years and serving.. I know how to treat customers. This was such a horrible experience. . I will not be returning to this location.

Food is good the drinks are ok the service sucks. I hate when you sit down and your there 20 min and no one even stops by to take a drink order but then the table next to you is seated and they have drinks and appetizers before your getting your first drink. And where do they find these wait persons? I couldn't tell if I had a waiter or waitress come On bjs get your shit together or next time I go to wild wings!

Stopped in for a Cobb Salad at lunch. The server offered the lunch portion at $9.95 or Full portion at $11.95. I ordered the full portion saying I'd take the rest home for dinner. Wow - that wasn't going to happen. My salad was smaller than 1/2 salads I've had anywhere else. In fact I asked the server if I had been given the lunch portion accidentally, but she assured me that wasn't the case, stating "it's just a new dish that makes it look smaller". Uh huh, real small. There was maybe 1/2 tablespoon of bacon, and 3 thin slices of avocado. I was still hungry when I finished my $12 salad. That's a first. I'll definitely go to the Brig for the 1/2 crab & shrimp Louie next time.

Service I give a 3 from our server. He spilled a drinkon the floor and a customer and just left it there. The manager who spoke with us was more friendly than the server. He was a constant bonus to out experience. The food was dry even with the mountain of mayo the manager brought me. Based on this experience I won't come back here. But I would tryout another location.

BJ's is great. We went there for lunch yesterday and I had the Chicken Fried Steak. It was great! My wife and daughter had the Tuscan Chicken Limone and Teriyaki Shrimp and both were very happy. BJ's has coupons all the time, so be sure to look for them to save a few bucks. The only scary thing is that calories are printed right on the menu, and almost everything has a lot more than you'd think.

I went here for lunch with my son. We were seated right away. Plenty of staff, no common sense. We asked for water, the waitress said, "OK." She went over to the register while she chatted with her co-worker for a long time. I made it obvious we were ready to order, she said, "Yeah, just a sec," and kept on chatting. I was so disappointed. I went back cause my husband and I went here on date night when it was busy and the food was good, but they lost my business when the many people who were on duty kept walking past me and my 8 year old ignoring us with snooty attitudes. It wasn't busy; they should've at least brought us our water. Just in case you're wondering; my son is very quiet and shy, so it's not like maybe they were annoyed by a screaming child. We wound up leaving after sitting for 25 (yeah that's right) 25 minutes of being ignored... Still angry, my son was starving!!!!

This place sucks save your money go to Taco Bell you will be more impressed . Came for late night happy hour bad move first we were served the wrong beers. Then they deliver my appetizers to the wrong table twice. I ordered avocado egg rolls they were okay and that's saying a lot . My husband ordered angus sliders umm please even at 5 dollars for that is too much I was cracking up looking at the picture of the sliders on the menu and what was before me . A 99cent McDouble has more meat then. These two sliders combined you can't even see the meat outside the bun it's a joke . I will never return here not even if someone else offered to pay that's a true story .

I LOVE GRAND CRU!!! That is the best beer on the planet but it's only served in season once a year I heard. Service here is great. Food is alright not the best. My favorite thing, believe it or not is the gluten free pizza. My friend turned me on to it and it's like a thin crust version of their mini pizza (which is on sale during their happy hour) at a reasonable price. I wouldn't go there otherwise if it weren't happy hour. But I LOVE the ambience there. Nice place, cool staff.

Your typical BJ's. If you've been to one, this one is no different. I was not a huge fan, the first time I went to the Bj's in Sacremento. Service was really slow, food was just ok. What brought me back was that someone gave me a gift certificate, so I HAD to. After all I can't pass up free food. We got the calamari as a starter, and soup and salad combo's for dinner. Not bad, but not great. I probably wouldn't go again unless someone was having their birthday there, or a similar situation. The atmosphere was nice, our server was on point, and the drinks were stiff enough. If you've been to one BJ's, you've been to this one.

First time at this BJ's and it was a great experience. I was snatched out the house by my wife to go shopping... ok, I volunteered to hang out with her this time LOL. Men you have to do that from time to time get stay in good graces. You know, "Happy wife, happy life" then you'll be able to stay home and watch football next time without getting a penalty flag! Our server was great and suggested some great appetizers to try. We sat up in the bar area for a more cozier atmosphere (it was closer to the TV' shhhhhh). Now I do have to say that we were a bit disappointed in my wife's dessert. Another server other than the one we had brought it out to the table and it was nothing like the description when we looked it over, plus our server even noticed it when he came by the table because he immediately stopped and said, "excuse me that's not right there's something missing" he took it back and had them hook it up the way it's supposed to be hooked. Good looking out! They were no longer putting candied pecans on it and that was one of the things that prompted my wife to get it. Or at least tell people that before it's ordered. It was supposed to be a cobbler but it looked like a flat blueberry muffin. Now I know cobblers because I make a peach cobbler you can't eat with your shoes on it's so good... you have to eat it bare footed so you can wiggle your toes @,@ LOL It first came out with two scoops of ice cream sitting one on top of the other and noting else, looking like a cookie with ice cream... when our server brought it back it had three scoops of ice cream in a row, sprinkled nuts and caramel syrup drizzled on it! Now that's a good replay. But it still looked like a blueberry muffin instead of a berry cobbler...

I've only been to the BJ's at Grossmont center once or twice. Now that i work in Chula Vista this place is right across the street. AND who doesn't love BJ's. (ZING see what i did there?) Stopped by for lunch with the GF. Ordered up a lunch special with half a sandwich and soup (Chili). I do believe it was grilled chicken sandwich. The whole dang mean was good and the service was good for a lunch special. I totally forget what the GF ordered but I'm pretty sure she didn't complain too much. As always the inside is nice.

I came here by default because I was trying to go Buffalo Wild Wings next door, but they had a huge line outside because they were showing the UFC fight that night. I would have loved to go in but my girl and I were kind of on a time limit. So we said hey BJ's looks good and hardly any wait. We waited about 15 min to be seated. Everyone was really nice. I tried the beer sampler. 4- 5oz. Samples of quality beer for under $7 is not bad. We had wings and their new deep dish pizza(spicy meatball). Food was great and so was the service. I will be coming back.

Cool spacious restaurant. The atmosphere is fun and a great for big groups. The menu is big and has a good selection. However, when the food arrived, the sampler platter was a bit small compared to other restaurants. The food was ok. The description and pictures on the menu were more impressive than the actual meals. I ordered the Hawaiian Mahi Mahi and it was bland. The pineapple was watered down and from the can. The fish was over cooked and dried out. My husband had the ribeye and he ordered it medium, but it came out super well done. The service was also ok. Our server was super friendly and accommodating, but she was very slow! We had our appetizers, but still did not receive our waters. Our whole table of 7 had to ask our server a couple of times for our water. Then when our appetizer sampler came out we were missing the artichoke dip. Eventually the manager brought it out. The only thing that we all loved about our meal was the pizookie dessert. It's an ok place. Good beer selection, good bar, but service was eh.

First time to BJ's and I can't wait to come back. It reminded me of Seau's in Mission Valley. They brew their own beer too which was awesome. I had the Nutty Brewnette and fell in love. Can't wait to go back and try their other offerings. We tried their flatbread pizzas which were nice and thin crust and heavy on the toppings! So delicious. Also tried theCreole Tilapia was so good too. Was too full to try their famous Pizookie but I will be back for more beer and bites!

WARNING: The most unoriginal Yelp review. As many BJs there are here near me, I've never been to one. (Chel R) It was my first time here (Brian B) Connected to one of the crapiest malls in San Diego, still manages to gather a crowd. (Adel O) Not a bad place to come with a group of people (Anya D) Surely not the location for a quiet, romantic dinner, but fantastic for dining out with buddies. (Jason C) I had dinner here (Joanne A) It's a nice atmosphere with good food... I love how their menu has printed calories for the health conscious. The "light" menu options are the best I've seen in any restaurant (Joyce M) Oh the menu! Over twelve pages of items to choose from. (Angela C) When looking for a variety - BJ's is the place. (Chris G) the food choice is satisfying... ordered the jambalaya which was delicious... our server Fernando definitely earned his tip (eLaine f) Jambalaya was bomb... is spicy (Marc L) This place is pretty good. (Joanna A) I love the layout (and there's a Jamba Juice, Panera, and Starbucks right next door!)... Boo for no patio sitting tho! (Alyssa G) Big and spacious! Overall good experience, service was good. (Jojo B) Great place to go for decent prices and decent meals. (Kyxie D) Despite negative reviews (Ryan B) Hopefully you will get good service... Beer! They have beers from all around the world. (Jason W) I will come back here again for Happy Hour (Juje J) I would love to rate them a 5 star, but (Ace D) I give 3 stars (Edwin O) That is all. (Chris P) Yup pretty much what everybody else said!

Worst experience ever!!! I don't remember the waitresses name but she was the pregnant one that usually does happy hour I think!! Slowest service ever!!! SLLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWWEEEEESSSSSTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!! If it wasn't for the other girl that came in, this would have been a 1 star. It took like 45 minutes to get me food, and she still got the order wrong!! Yard House is still number one!!!!!

This place has its ups and downs. Pros: -Love the abundance of televisions and the huge screen at the bar. -The house beer is great and they add seasonal ones throughout the year. -They have a decent beer selection in addition to the house brews. -Their food is really good and they can make a decent breakfast also. I love their French toast. -Huge dining area and the layout works really well and is very inviting. Cons: -Though they seem to have a lot of employees walking around, when it gets busy the wait at the table for someone to come over can be lengthy at times. -During football or happy hour it is difficult to find someone to clear a dirty table in the bar section. -When the restaurant gets busier, the quality of the food seems to suffer. If you view my check-ins, you will see that I come here pretty often. I usually go just before the rush starts so i can be seated and have my food by the time the football starts, or I get there just as happy hour is starting. The employees are always nice.

This BJ is by far the worse restaurant. The food is lousy and over priced. You don't get what you pay for. Service is terrible. The last three times I was there, they got my order wrong everytime. I will not be back ever, even if my food is free. I would save my myself the trouble.

Came here again cause I was craving and it's so close to my boyfriends. Asked for NO sliced avocados in my pizza appetizer and when it came out, it's the first thing I see on there and told the waiter I didn't want that. He insisted on taking it back and have them remake it but I told him no. Ill take it off myself cause that's what they probably would've done only. The service is horrible. It took about 10 minutes for someone to even greet us at our table. So many waiters walked past and didnt acknowledge us. Never again.

Last night my husband surprised me with a surprise birthday party at BJs in Chula Vista. My husband was able to reserve same day and they were very accommodating. We pretty much had the second level, to ourselves, the servers were very attentive and provided us with great service. We were a group of about 17. My husband was very pleased with what he had planned for us. I needed to make room for my newborns stroller and they moved some chairs for me to help me put it out of the way. The waiter also took some pictures for us. I would absolutely recommend BJs in Chula Vista. Ryan J. was our server, hope he enjoys the generous tip my husband left. I had the best 40th birthday dinner with friends and family.

The food is tasty but every single time I come here it is BAD service. I keep going back because the food is pretty tasty but no more! The service has been horrible one too many times... Damnit BJ's! You are a sinking ship. You'll not find a more loyal fan than me,but you continue to disappoint. I wish I could say it is the humidity causing the beer to be served room temp, but this is the 3rd time (props to BJs in Carlsbad for their frosty goodness)! Their handcrafted IPA was flat, however now I know the Bear Republic Racer IPA is rad!! Food rating is a 10- saved yourself yet again but I'm a beer gal!! We ordered the small bites: spinach stuffed mushrooms, Thai & Buffalo wontons, and california club flatbread!! So good i wanted to throw it through a window :) ----There were three tables occupied yet, bless his heart, our waiter was overwhelmed. Anyways, ill be back regardless!!

2 hours! It took 2 hours for brunch on a Sunday for 4 people. No wait when we got here. They didn't come to get drink orders for a good 15 mins. Took our whole order at once and came back with appetizers. Then a new waiter came to our table to tell us that out original waitress forgot to put on our order and had to wait even longer for it to come out. Idk why we even decided to stay for dessert. Took another 30 mins for pizookie. Never came to refill our drinks and didnt comp anything for forgetting our orders or our wait!! Not one manager even came to the table to see if we were ok. Horrible service.

You have to get a pizza or a chick sand which with potato wedges. I used to live in La Mesa and I would drive here to eat(even though there was one close to my house. Service is always great!

I used to go all the time before they opened other restaurants nearby. Last time we went we sat in the bar and got a new waitress. He messed up our order 4 times.. from the alcohol beer to appetizers to the pizza. It was okay because every time he brought something out wrong he corrected it with the right thing. By time our pizza came out we were soo full and couldn't eat it.. I will be back but not anytime soon.

Our server was very friendly, but the beer glasses were warm which is a bummer and we sat for ose to 10 months before being greeted. I ordered the soup and salad combo for my meal and was kind of disappointed that they brought it our right away. My food sat for at least 15 minutes while waiting for the rest of my family to get their food. By the time they received their food my soup wasn't hot anymore. Overall not a great experience.

I you are looking for a place to have a good time. This is the place. You can have some nice drinks and good food. you can ask for Joe and he will make you feel like a $1000000 super star. I always go on Fridays. Best of luck

We had the worst service at this restaurant. We were seated for 15 minutes and not even offered anything to drink and this was after 9pm at night. We told the host and he didnt care either.

I came to BJ's for a quick lunch and I notified my server that I was on a lunch hour. I ordered the original baked potato with added bacon and I side wedge salad with blue cheese dressing. The wedge salad was good and the blue cheese dressing creamy with just the right amount of thickness, that it adhered to the salad well. The dressing tasted good and the chopped bacon strips on top were very good with a nice bacon flavor and texture ( yelp.com/biz_photos/bjs-… ). The baked potato was good. It came well dressed with melted cheddar and a lot of bacon which tasted great ( yelp.com/biz_photos/bjs-… ), but I did not like the way they put the whipped butter and sour cream in the same container where it intermixed. I only wanted sour cream and I kept getting butter mixed in, so I t kinda annoyed me. So, the Godfather says, "please serve the sour cream and butter in separate containers the way it should be." Other than the that, it was a good lunch under $10 and I got out of their well under and hours. Please don't mix your sour cream with butter...

This location is less friendly than the other ones I've been to. The person who sat us was very rude, we asked for a booth and she was very reluctant to seat us at one although it was not busy at all and even seemed annoyed. We even saw plenty of other people seated at booths all around the restaurant. The food, however, was good. It just took a little longer to come out which was surprising giving how there was little people at this time. I really enjoyed their pizookie as well.

I took my cousin to try Pazookie and the mojito. Our server brought us our mojito all was great, until we waiting about an hour for the dessert. We caught his attention so we could cancel it because we were over it and before we could speak he says, "do you guys want to cancel your order?" He never put in our order! So of course we left. Usually I have better experiences here, but then I went again last night and our server didn't come to check on us at all, never got refills. In summary service sucks here, but it tastes like every other BJ's!

Huge menu. Great variety. Great for a large family with varied tastes. Hate that the calorie count is on the menu. . . . Stuff I'd want to try just over the top calorie wise. . . . If I didn't know, I'd eat it! Ignorance is bliss. That said, they have some tasty low calorie dishes. Worth giving them a try. My kids love the desserts. I do too.

Food was really good, good vibration all around. Waiter was really courteous and helpful, desert took a while to arrive ( 25 Minutes ) we ended up canceling it....but our waiter was really nice to keep us happy and to try to make it up to us he gave us our desert on the house! I was please with the service and food. I will go again soon!

Service at the bar area is very slow.. servers are always forgetting about their tables and the food comes out late. Last night I went in during happy hour (because the college game was on it was extended) and I had no problem getting a table, there were about 6 tables open and plenty of bar stools. My friend and I sat down, ordered, then got our drinks within minutes. But the appetizers, those took a good 20 mins. Then we ordered our food: 2 individual pizzas... another 20 mins later, only ONE pizza came out. After I flagged down the waiter who had been no where in site, he said "ohhhhh sorry I'll go check" then came back 5 mins later and said "the kitchen is making it right now" then walked away.. MEANING that he forgot to put it in. He didn't even apologize again and 2nd pizza was brought out 5 mins later. Soooooo as I said before, kind of bad service but the actual food is good :)

Before I get started let me make this clear. We've eaten at BJs several times for lunch & dinner with no problems. We wanted to try brunch at bjs for the first time since we enjoy their other items. So we headed there around 11:30 on a Sunday. We got greeted and noticed we can probably get seated quickly due to the emptiness. We were seated within 2 minutes of being there. We sat down and no one came to greet our table or offer us water within the first few mins. We figured that someone was going to come around. We have our orders now ready and are just waiting for the servers. Nothing....I go to the bathroom to wash my hands....nothing. We waited about 20 mins before we decided to walk out. This was our first time walking out EVER and thought it was warranted. I don't know if they were training new staff or undermanned. But wow, not even a drink order after 10 mins. This is my 2nd review ever. The end.

I come to this BJ's location fairly frequently, and yesterday's service is the WORST I have received here. Arrived at 2:40 PM. Light customer load, enough waitstaff and hostesses present. Placed order for a party of 2 in the dining area. Order = stuffed baked potato (potatoes are already baked, only need warmed and toppings put on) and soup with salad. Very easy order to prepare and serve, wouldn't you agree? Waited 25 minutes for our pre baked potato, pre made soup and lettuce. Our waitress was more concerned with walking around as slow as a snail, talking with other staff, cashing out previous checks, taking new orders at other tables but only delivering drinks No napkin/silverware delivered, at all. My friend had to go to the hostess to get it. I saw our waitress watching this happen, but she made no attempt to approach our table. A DIFFERENT waiter brought out the soup and salad, but no baked potato. I asked him to please bring it as it was missing from the order, and to place the potato in a carryout container. He agreed and brought it to the table immediately. Not sure why he could bring that out so quickly in a to-go container versus a plate with the rest of the order so I could eat it, but whatever. Waitress never checked on us, but walked past our table several times. Stopped the waitress and asked for our check. That was the only thing she brought promptly. My friend asked for another bowl of salad (since it is of course, all-you-can-eat soup and salad). Waitress agreed but was perturbed. No salad came out. Ever. I watched her the entire time from my friend's request for more. Instead, she did other things. My friend asked for a to-go container. Though we were within 20 feet of a server's station with to-go containers in the cabinet, our waitress went to other areas of the restaurant (but not other customers, just other areas). Never to return again...until my friend went to the hostess to ask for a to-go container and the hostess went straight to the server's station near us and gave one to my friend. ONLY then, did our waitress come out from wherever, but NOT to our table...oh no...but to the hostess stand to loudly complain to the hostess how we were bad customers, wanting too many things. (Ahem..not too much to ask for when we ask for silverware, the missing part of our order, our check, another helping of all-you-can-eat salad and a to-go container. I didn't know that was beyond what a customer should request? And we never even asked for our food while waiting 25 minutes...thought we were pretty patient about that.) Still no second helping of salad anywhere to be found. Our waitress never walked to the kitchen once. I kept my eyes on her the entire time since my friend's order. So we got up to leave (yes, we paid our promptly-brought bill) and our waitress saw us, and still made no attempt to move toward us from the server station at the back of the restaurant. But, she DID manage to give us the stink-eye as we were leaving. So gracious of her. At least the cold soup and the room temperature salad still had some taste to it.

I'm not sure what happen tonight but service we received was poor. I took my boyfriend out for dinner for his birthday & this was possibly the worst service we have had . I feel like I need to take him out to dinner again to make up for tonight. Defiantly not the way I wanted him to enjoy his birthday. Our appetizer came out quickly but after that it was a complete train wreck. We waited 45 mins to receive our food. We discussed walking out & going to project pie to eat. it was getting out of control at this point. Our waiter said he was going to "check on our food" but yet I see him to go other tables & refill their drinks , take orders & he never "checked on our food" 10 mins later he came by & said our food is "done" & will be out right now at this point I was getting annoyed. 6 mins later our food finally comes out. We asked for a side or ranch & that literally took 10 more mins! A party of 6 sat down next to us & within 20 mins they had their food. I don't understand how it takes 45 mins to make food for 2 but the party of 6 gets their food in half the amount of time! Sincerely - annoyed guest.

This was our first time at BJ's. Decided to bring my husband out here for his birthday dinner; I wish I hadn't. We had done an "online reservation" where we were able to preorder our meals and have seats reserved. This was a fantastic feature considering I take FOREVER figuring out what I want. Saved my husband from having to wait around on me ;) Once arrival, we were promptly seated. Shortly after, my husband received his clam chowder (part of entrée) even before our waiter greeted us. It was REALLY GOOD. We got out drinks, then our appetizers came out VERY fast. Good? Not much..we ordered loaded potato skin..DRY DRY DRY. Carnitas verde fries..DRY DRY DRY...we ate it because we were starving but had to down it with water.. Time for entrée..my husband ordered a full rack of bbq ribs. Just by the looks of it, it looked incredibly DRYYYY. My husbands facial expression confirmed it..I ordered the mahi-mahi with the rice..the fish was DRYYYYYY, no flavor, the rice was way too sweet, I couldn't take more than a bite :( we ordered our 3 year old daughter chicken, rice and veggies off the kids meal. My daughter is NOT a picky eater, she eats nearly everything..the chicken was DRY veggies tasted old, rice was too hard.. Needless to say, the quality of food was poor, overpriced and service was OK. My husband and I both agreed, we would not return..might as well get some steak and throw it on the grill at home lol

Went here with a group of friends (8 people total) for dinner because typically BJ's in general has not disappointed. That is, until this visit. We waited so long for the waitress to come back to our table after bringing our water that we ordered appetizers, entrees and dessert in case she again didn't come back. The appetizers came out nearly thirty minutes later and the avocado in the Avocado Egg Rolls had been sitting under the heat lamp for so long it was actually completely brown, rather than the fresh green. Needless to say, the service was far below any type of standard of acceptable and the food sitting in the back, including our entrees reflected the waiting we experienced at our table. I will be sure to warn my friend and family to avoid this establishment!

I came here on the suggestion of a friend the first time and have been back again since then. I have only tried their deep dish pizzas, but my husband had their top sirloin as well. The deep dish pizzas are DIVINE; that's the truth! On the other hand, their prices and the attitudes of the waitresses are the exact opposite. THE GOOD: Yes, the deep dish pizzas are to die for. They are baked to perfection with large amounts of toppings and the crust gets to the perfect crispy goodness. THE BAD: Expect to pay $14 for a personal pizza and upwards of $20+ for a small, mediocre piece of steak. THE OTHER BAD: The service and attitudes of the waitresses were crummy both times that I've been here. I understand that you're busy and don't really care about me, but if I ask you what's your favorite dish between my two picks or I ask you how your day has been going, please don't roll your eyes or huff and puff because I'm asking your opinion or just making small talk. I also understand that people have off days and some days just plain suck, but until the person who waits us is not in a standoff mood, I'm leaving my review as three stars. Chances are, I'll continue to come back to BJ's regardless of the wait staff and the price... Those deep dish pizzas are worth it. **TIP: Last time we came in, they offered us a rewards card. Kind of like Red Robin's reward program, each dollar you spend at BJ's you earn 1 point. They culminate until you have a certain amount and you can get a % off your ticket, free dessert, etc, etc, etc. Worth it if you go here more than two times probably. **

BJ's lunch is one of the best deals out there. They offer 3 buck drafts of a good beer selection and plenty of lunch specials. On this trip I had the BJs Barbecue Plate which comes with a pull pork slider and a barbecue chicken breast with a side of wedges and cole slaw. Now the food wasn't the best, but the serving size and cheap beer made up for it. You can be out the door for under 10 bucks with a meal that make you think twice about needing to eat dinner. Stay sexy fellow Yelpers!

Poor service. Bad service. Slow service. Don't come here if you expect good service from a restaurant. From seating to order-taking to drink serving to food service. Slow. Bad. Poor. If the manager has to come out to help remedy the poor service by serving as a second waiter and handing out a couple free appetizers to the table, something has gone terribly wrong.

Swung by on a Friday night with my mom, the restaurant was pretty packed but we didn't wait long at all. After we got seated our server showed up promptly but he never introduced himself, something we believed was very critical for the customer service experience. We got the shrimp lettuce wraps for appetizers and they were just alright. Nothing special really, the shrimp was a little dry for our liking so we left more than half of the dish. I got the Moroccan spiced salmon that did not impress me at all. The salmon was actually well cooked and flavorful, it was just the sauce that threw me off. I always order the same thing when I go to BJ's, I think I'll just stick with that. My mom got the jalapeño burger but with a veggie pattie instead and I think I ate more of her food than mine. That was a damn good burger! Despite the fact of not introducing himself, our server was good. He was attentive and treated us nicely. I just give three starts because the food did not satisfy us.

I've eaten here three times. Today we had the pleasure of being served by Junior. He took so long getting our drink orders that most of us went to the bar. at which point he then he preceded to ignore or be rude to the people who didn't order alcohol through him. He also took forever long getting each portion of our meal competed: currently we've been waiting to pay for 45 minutes. Good news, the food is always reliably tasty. Bad news, you can count on running the risk of having the worst server in the house every time you dine

Food here is decent I wouldn't come so often were it not for Pricilla's awesome service! Had an average 3 course meal last night and wow she made me feel like I was at a fine dining establishment as always! Pizzookies are to die for plus excellent service = Winning!! Keep it up I highly recommend you request sitting in Pricilla's section do yourself the favor!

Pretty solid after work dining option. It can get pretty crowded here, but the staff seems to keep up with it. The steaks are actually quite good- I recommend the rib eye, along with a good Hefeweizen to wash it down. The service can be disjointed at times, hence the four and not five stars, but hey- It's a themed restaurant, not Donovans. The appetizers are quite good, and of course the beers are all tasty. This is a really good option for groups of 8 or more- They do well here with a multi - server approach, and generally get food out pretty quickly. One drawback can be limited parking at the CV Center, but it's not too bad. I recommend asking for seating in the elevated areas and not down below; it can get loud and you'll have a ton of people weaving by you to use the restrooms. Overall, this is a great dining option post work or Christmas shopping. Tasty!

Horrible service! I ordered the stuffed mushrooms... Word to the wise; if you are expecting the food to at least look edible, eat elsewhere. They served me "stuffed" mushroom that were way too small to even stuff. The mushrooms looked empty! Apparently their version of drizzle means drown... Because they drowned the empty mushrooms in lemon pesto sauce. It took way to long to even get my waiters attention. By the time anyone even acknowledged my existence I was just ready to go! This was my first and last time eating at this establishment... Good luck to anyone who does.

The cool thing about BJ's is that for some reason no one comes for there "weekend Brunch". And its pretty good and really fair pricing. Good for kids too. The breakfast basics are executed skillfully and the ingredients seem to be of decent quality. Coming here sure beats waiting at IHOP for an hour or going to Broken Yolk and getting bad food or bad service! * I wish they had more of a local craft beer selection...

  • Elizabeth A.

I went back to BJ's despite my hit or miss experiences there before. I started with a side salad. The salad looked good at first glance, but as I ate, it was clear the lettuce was going bad and the edges were browning. Next up I had a mini Great White deep dish pizza. I have had this pizza on several occasions and at the La Jolla location, and this was the worst I've ever had. The pizza was luke warm, the crust was still doughy, and the chicken tasted as if it were over cooked in a microwave. I've had frozen meals better than that. My mother had the new lobster tacos. Somehow they managed to miss the mark with that as well. The lobster tasted rubbery, among the lack of fresh ingredients on the taco, the store bought flour tortillas, and the runny "guacamole." She said it was bland and salty. She would have rather had tacos at Rubio's for a third of the price and made correctly. I used to like going to BJ's, but it seems they have really gone downhill. What a shame.

I love the beer selection here. It is pretty extensive with a lot of foreign choices. I like you can make your own sampler set of any of the tap beers. The burgers are pretty good. The sliders are simple and make a great late night snack. You get two sliders and some fries so you not completely filled up. They come with lettuce and some pickles. The pizookies are ok. I am not a big fan of them. They tasted pretty good but are really heavy on the stomach for a late night snack. Service has been pretty good every time I have been. They are open semi late which is nice.

Bad cuts of Rib Eye, 80% Fat 20% meat, if you go here and the Rib Eye is all Fat, send it back. Waiter stated, this was the 7th Rib Eye to go back due to excessive Fat. Will go elsewhere for Steaks as the quality of steak here has gone down. Also the Orders are hit & miss, there is always something wrong with our order. Ask for No Tomatoes and we get Tomatoes etc.

Sometimes this place I think is great and other times not so much. Its really a hit and miss. The first time was amazing. The second was alright and the third was great. Now just experiencing the 4th time I'm on the fence. I think it really depends on the day that you go and who is in the kitchen. We always get the corn fritters however this time there was very little garnish with the sauce and it wasn't as great. I'm always trying out different things on the menu and we love the atmosphere more than anything.

My first time at this place and what a disappointment. The appetizers and drinks were fine, but the main courses were a disaster. We ordered two pastas, which were so bland, no salt no nothing. One we sent it back, the other was hardly touched. My daughter ordered the Scallops, there did not smell fresh, they were like boiled, bland and awful. The dish came with asparagus, which, not only were super skinny and limp but also came with the tuff uncut hard stocks. Never again!

My boyfriend and i came here. It was kind of an awkward visit. Our hostess sat us. Waiter came and took our order. Then a man in a button up and tie (whom i assume is the manager) came and asked us if our waiter had come to greet us and take our order yet. Then different waiters brought us our appetizer, drinks, and entrees. I think the manager checked on us more than our waiter... Whatever the issue was, it was weird. Not bad because we weren't being neglected at all. Just weird. The food was very good. Everything was brought out to us HOT and FRESH, which is very important to me. Drinks were kind of weak, but i think that has more to do with who was bartending than the restaurant itself. Overall, we liked it here. And we'll be back.

I loved the Customer service here. The ladies at the bar did an excellent job taking care of us and everyone at the bar. Very attentive polite and fast ! Can't complain! The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because none of the restrooms had toilet paper lol. Aside from that excellent !

Never come here during a football game or any game. I love bjs that's why I'm giving this place 2 stars but the reason why I'm not going to give it a better review is because of the service. I know it is busy. I know their is a lot to do. But how many times do I have to ask for a straw? I asked 4 different workers here and they would say "yeah, I'll be right back with it" bit never came back with it. I had to go to the front and grab some. Really? I didn't even left a tip because they neglected my simple task.

This has to be the worst BJ's in Southern California at the very least. We have never come here and had an incident free meal. Each time something is wrong. The pizza is always under cooked. The staff are not knowledgable. Last time we asked what beers were on tap and the waiter said to order the BJ brews because they were cheaper and never told us the other options. When we asked a second time, a different waiter came by and said the same thing. We eventually just walked to the bar ourselves. Same time, I order pizza with black olives and mushrooms and I get a pizza with kalamata olives and red onion. He asked if I wanted it and I said no thank you. When the bill came they charged us for BOTH PIZZAs the mistake and the corrected one.

Well first off the waiter was really nice, but the only thing is that the service is really slow. So my mom and i shared an order which was the spaghetti with meetballs with an extra plate and meetballs also two waters. So by the time we got our food it was good but the only problem was that we were missing an extra plate and the meetballs. So the waiter was sorry and went back to go get it. About, half way done the manager came with the meetballs. Again, i asked the manager for water and he said "I'll be back for the water!" But no, he goes out and desides to do something else than having to come back for the water. But, at least the waiter was genres and sorry for keeping us waiting. I think he should become manager instead of the manager who brought the meetballs. Their's a higher chance i probably wouldn't be back at all. I'm only giving two stars because the waiter was super friendly

Love the 3 to 7 Happy Hour here. Different selection, food and drink for $3,4,5 & 6 dollars. We had four plates and two drinks for $35! Only place to get 6.00 drinks!! The food is good, love the avocado rolls!

Food was ok, pizza was kind of under cooked and way to much cheese. We had to hunt our waitress down a few times. She seemed to hair vanish when we wanted something. It took her 20 minutes to get us a refill on our drinks and another 30 min to bring us ketchup. It wasn't even busy. The girls who are supposed to get you a table ignored us for a good 15 minutes before we started to bug them about getting us a table. Service here sucks! Kind of rude and I'll mannered. Wont be back to this location again.

I've been back a few times and it has been decent. Like I don't even have anything to expand on really -- not horrible, not amazing. Specific to my very last visit, however (last night), I got the little stem nubbin in my avocado eggroll AGAIN. This happens pretty regularly. Who prepares those things? They realize the stem nubbin is hard and unpleasant to accidentally chew, right?

Pyramid apricot if your feeling girly. Kinda like a peachy Blue Moon. $4.95 Kids Captain Crunch French Toast is the must order for the little ones. Opens at 10am on Sunday. They have an excellent Sunday Brunch. We come here to escape the over 1 hour wait in Eastlake at Broken Yolk, Cheesecake factory, and IHOP after church Sunday rush brunch. It is empty on a Sunday morning and it's perfect for a large group. I highly recommend the Breakfast Pizza, something unique & filling. It's enough to share with 3 adults. HUGE portion. It's unique and so heavy that the thin crust will bend over since it can't support the toppings of bacon, sausage, cheese, ham, tomato, & mozzarella. Bust out the knife and fork for that slice.

One of the best places to go and have dinner and beer with friends or family. Culminating service and food. Not expensive at all. Definitely going back soon.

First time here. Only place local showing the football game I wanted to see. The place was not busy at 10:30am and service was slow. Ordered the French Toast combo, was good except for our eggs were not done right. I guess a small price to pay to watch football? Reasonable pricing but way too much for the service and quality of food that was luke warm at best. Seemed to be a bother to the waitress when we told her about our eggs. Walked off to another table. Oh well. Lesson learned. May just keep it strictly water next time. Thanks for having the game on though.

I can't deal with the wait. I got here at 1:20, was seated right away, ordered 5 min later, yet it's 2:00 & still no entree. Finished our appetizer 10 min ago. Not that busy either. WTF

Great food, crappy service!!!! When you see a empty glass of water you should refill it not serve us our appetizers and go off about your business. Sorry but if I have to ask for refills numerous time, there's a problem. Food was on point--

I love it here. Family friendly environment, great food and i love how they have a variety of food to chose from. From pastas to cheeseburgers to steak and fresh salads. Their food is always cooked to perfection. I recommend the stuffed mushroom appetizer, its delicious.

Customer service is terrible. Half the restaurant is empty and the bartender is watching tv. I sat at the bar and ordered a wedge salad and a mini pizza for lunch. The bartender was quick and attentive, that's the 2 stars. The wedge salad took 25 minutes. Then a guy sat down next to me at the bar and ordered a wedge salad. As I was finishing my salad, the server brought out the guys wedge salad in 2 minutes. WTF? The mini pizza came out 5 min later and the server brought it to the guy... I said that's mine and she sighed and said oh...rolled her eyes and walked off. The pizza is cold... I will not be returning.

Just left here, we had a large party and it was handled very poorly. We waited about 30 minutes just to get our order taken, our waiter did not seem like he knew what he was doing. a side of ranch I had initially asked for along with my order was brought 15 minutes after my plate was brought out. Another 25 minutes to get our check and when we finally did get our check they charged us for and extra plate. The food is decent but the service is always disappointing.

This place went downhill. Its fine for sitting at the bar and having a beer, but we will never sit down to eat again. I got the jalapeno burger and requested medium cook, it came out beyond done and was cold and basically lacking flavor. For 12 bucks this was a disgrace! My wife got a brussel sprout and kale salad, that arrived with absolutely no brussel sprouts or kale...we had to send it back. It was nice that the manager came out and delivered the salad and apologized, but by this point we were not very impressed.

Poor customer service, bland food, pricey, too loud. I thinks this was my last visit to BJ's. Had to wait to be seated on a Thursday evening. My son's hamburger was undercooked. We had to return fries as they were cold. They came back and no change. We had to call our server to get refills. Overall unhappy with the service, food quality and ambiance. I would not recommend to anyone.

it took over 20 minutes for a server to finally realize we weren't helped ; I don't feel the need to flag someone down if your establishment is not busy and has more then 4 servers walking the floor.I'm DISAPPOINTED because I could have drove to Chula Vista and been helped right away rather then waiting for almost 30 mins to get some damn water.I usually praise businesses especially when their hospitality is great ! I am not impressed at all . . . hopefully our food comes out great because if I wasn't craving dessert I would have left to go somewhere else.Thank you to our server who tried to bring the service up to par but everybody should know the first 5 minutes after being seated lays the foundation for the service and mmmm it took you guys more then 20 no thanks !

My friend and I took our husbands here for their first experience. My friend is gluten free and ordered the pork chops those were delicious. Unfortunately her sides were so out of proportion it was ridiculous. (4 tiny cinnamon apples & 6 green beans) the rest of us ordered red meat (2 steaks and a burger) and I will hands down say WORST experience ever. Each of our plates tasted like we were chewing on pieces of charcoal. The meat was over cooked tasted burnt and had absolutely zero seasoning. We were VERY disappointed and will not be back to this location.

**Worst Experience at BJs Ever** I just got out of BJs with no food eaten after a total of 30 minutes waiting without being acknowledged. This is ridiculous!! A soon as I arrived the person signing us in acted as if she did not want to be there. There was no organization as to who went next. I had a couple tell the hostess that they arrived first and skipped us. Once we were seated about 15 minutes had passed and nobody came to ask for drinks or anything. Then there was a table of people next to us that were asked by a waiter what they wanted and still we did not get acknowledged. The level of service this location was horrid. Had this been a fast food chain, I would not mind but when you have an average ticket of $40-$65 for a couple you would expect a higher sense of urgency from the people serving you. After half hour I decided to leave and really ruined my Sunday afternoon. If you value your time I would stay away from this place.

Hate this place! Came because the hubby wanted to eat here. Called two days before to make a reservation for a party of 19, but they said they don't do reservations on Friday's. So we came anyways prepared to wait, however the hostess was an idiot and so was the manager. They don't know how to manage their space. After an hour and a half we finally got seated and it took 15 minutes to get our drinks. If there was an option for no stars that's what I would put. If it wasn't for my husband I would have never waited this long.

Stood at the bar for almost 10 minutes before being acknowledged. The female bartender who appeared to be a manager asked if I had been helped. I told her I had not. She said she would send Daniel right over. 10 minutes later still no help. Gave up and left. Very poor customer service.

Came here on Tuesday night with my husband and couple of our good friends. Our waiter was very friendly and chatty, but it took him a long time to get us our drinks from the bar (he was quick to blame the bartenders) and as the evening progressed he seemed to get more and more flustered. One of the appetizers we ordered came out wrong, we wanted the brussel sprouts with the cream sauce on the side, and again he was quick to blame the kitchen staff. My friend had to ask twice to have her water refilled. He brought out two entrees and then said the kitchen messed up on my entree so they were working on redoing it. When he finally did bring out my dinner and the other missing dinner, they were both wrong. I understand that everyone has off nights but we were really disappointed. The waiter did tell us that his manager was going to discount our bill but that did not happen, and instead of making a big deal about it we just paid the full price and left. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is even though our waiter was quick to shift blame, he was friendly. However, we will not be coming back.

Pizookies! What my friend and I came for and of course dinner. Our waiter was great. Though we were seated right behind the kitchen so we heard every single order coming out! but it was okay as our waiter made up for it by his service.

Came to this location for the first time and we waited over 40 min for our food. Our waiter never even came to wait on us. Instead we had a nice lady who had a different table wait on us. Then when our meals came our appetizer never came first. Will never come back to this location again.

  • Andrew S.

I've been there multiple times and the service has been virtually nonexistent. I even ordered a meal that came with a salad that I didn't want and the waitress asked if she could eat it. The beer seems watered down also. I keep giving this place a chance because the pizza is good but its just not worth the trouble.

I should start off by saying I love BJ'S but this experience was absolutely horrible...there was four of us and we waited 55 minutes for our food which was cooked horribly and my daughter had to wait longer due to the waiter writing her order down incorrectly...this is the second time we have visited this location and the second time we have had completely horrible service..this place needs new management....it's unfortunate that this happens to be the closest BJ's to our house...it will probably be the last time we go here

No service... My dad is handicapped and has a hard time walking. I asked for a closer table and were moved. No one came to help us. Not even drinks. 3 tables that were seated after us were helped and orders taken. Before we walked out we asked for the manager. And all he could say is he could move us to a different table. We won't be going there again. This is how they treat retired handicapped veterans.

These motherfuc#&@$! Now, if I have to start off a review like this then you know its all bad. Our waiter is Marlon, hes cool, a brotha from anotha motha so hes more laid back not the hustle type (hustle as in fast not hustler), But hes not the reason for the bad review. He should probably work at a smoke shop or somewhere that a little hustle is not a job requirement. The poor review is for the effing bs "policy" on not telling customers about a special. If I sit here and order a pizza and two salads you'd think the waiter would say oh thats a special we have and includes a desert for $20.00 (I read the special here on yelp after already placing my order). I asked Marlon about it and he smiled and said, "yeah we have that special" I said , " its not on your menu and you didnt mention it" he said im not supposed to. WTF marlon get outta my face with that bs! So im gonna pay full price cuz you cant tell me about a special? Now good thing i dont do drugs cuz if this was a drug deal it wouldve went down and went down bad. Smh. In addition to that bs when the hostess sat us down she tried to sit us at a booth that was full of dirty dishes. I said to her "youre not blind, are you?" No, im not she said. Good so sit us where the table is clean, please :: :eyeroll::: If It was ok to just go around smacking people who work in retaurants that are idiots instead of yelping them, shed get the pimp slap! Black and blue flatbread pizza was yummy, friends country fried chicken lacked flavor. Stupid people can ruin good food.

Great service great food. They have a Pesto Chicken Flatbread Pizza. Amazingggggg!! They took it off the menu but you can still ask for. They have great happy hour and appetizer. You can't go wrong here!

The staff is always on point, the food is always tasty, and The beer... Speaks for itself I think the pricing is good as well, I tend to eat alone and enjoy a great meal and beer for under or around 20 bucks, the lunch special is a steal though $7.50 for endless soup and salad and the soup is bomb.com ;) I sit at the bar for faster service there is even a 102 inch tv which is always showing relevant sporting events, we are lucky to have a chain like this in our mall. I like to support small business as much as possible but when I'm looking for that's extra touch I come to BJ's

So many drinks and appetizers to choose from it can easily become a satisfying meal. Love how you can split the pizookie 2 ways and the selections are chocolate chip, Oreo, red velvet, peanut butter and white macadamia any combo will please your taste buds. Definitely coming back for another happy hour! ;)

Hit up BJ's, lol, ("that's what she said") and it was pretty good. The service was great! Staff were available and friendly. The food was good, the atmosphere is really nice, and it wasn't busy. My least favorite aspect was the menu. Oh the menu! Over twelve pages of items to choose from. Granted most of it is beer (duh, it's a brewery) but it seems overloaded with unnecessary choices, or repeats of the same thing just packaged differently. Our server came to our table THREE times before I had actually finished reading through the whole thing and chose what I wanted for dinner. Some people may think that's a good thing, "so much variety" but for me, it was a waste of time. I'd prefer a simpler menu, with a few awesome items, than a zillion items packaged differently with different names. Anywho, all in all a nice place to eat, with friends, on a date, or with family. My husband and I went on a Thursday night, with our five year old daughter, and we all enjoyed ourselves. We will go back again.

I went to this BJ's last night. Went with 5 other friends for dinner at around 10. There was maybe a total of 6 parties all together in the restaurant which isnt that many compared to the size of the place. We got our drinks rather quickly and the waitress took our order right away. Time goes by, too much time. 45 minutes later I ask one of the guys if he could check up on our food. Not one time did our waitress come to check up on us. Needless to say we all needed after 45 mins of conversing!! And just like magic, as soon as we asked him about our food, here comes the waitress with our food. I do not understand why it took so long to make our food with the restaurant being almost empty. My friend ordered a steak which didn't come out the way he wanted. Another friend ordered some pasta which she said tasted a little cold and her breadstick was stale as well. And to top it off, she found a hair in her pasta. Of course our waitress didn't know this because she never checked up on us untill the very end. Which is also when everyone finally got refills. The only good thing about the experince there is that she was able to split the bill according to how we wanted to pay and the bar we went to afterwards. And no, we didn't not leave a tip. Will never go back there again.

I've been meaning to write about this place. i was excited to see a brewhouse in the South Bay. Unfortunately, this place was way below average. The service was Terrible. The waiter was very very rude and ignored all our requests. He actually sighed at me when I flagged him down to ask for sugar for my iced tea. WTF? Then the food arrived, and my husband got his and I did not get mine... Oh and did I mention our appetizer came AFTER our food. What is that. My husband was almost done with his dinner when mine finally came and it was COLD, not just tepid but super cold. I couldnt find the guy to ask him to warm it up so I ended up taking it home (ate the appetizer). So sad, I like the decor of this place and I'd like to give it another shot but i am seeing that the other reviews echo my complaints about service. I hope thier management reads this stuff and gets the place in gear. Until then, if you are in a hurry or getting dinner, go somewhere else, this place seems better for drinks although those took an eternity too... Lets hope it gets better. in this economy, people need to try harder.

The prior reviews say it all..................EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE!! I thought I would give it another try after my last bad experience with poor service. Even e-mailed management through their website and told them of the experience and they made it right and sent me a gift card to give them another try. I did but I happened to use it in their Huntington Beach location. Well things haven't changed much in the Chula Vista location. It went downhill from the beginning when the waitress was taking our order she literally, without saying a word, walked to the next table to help them with something......came back to us like nothing had happened! Service sucks bad here and the food is nothing to write home about. Plus it is not like they are giving the crap away, it is way overpriced. We will never return to this location. Evidentally this place didn't get the memo on "customer service"!

Really nice place with great atmosphere. The only things I've tried there are the Pizza and beer. Both are great no major complaints. Service was a little slow and trying to grab the waitress was a little bit of a hassle. A little on the pricey side but it's good quality deep dish pizza and beer. If you like Uno's you'll like this place. I actually think this place is better than Uno's

    (3)
  • Jimmy G.

I've been to this place maybe 7 times total with 3 of them being at the Chula Vista location. First of all, never had a problem with the La Mesa location other than the food was ok, nothing to really go back for. I've been here three times once after I found out Uno's was closed and a couple with friends just because they really wanted to go. First the food...it's just bland. Had the deep dish pizza and it's nothing to write home about. Uno's was a much better restaurant than this place just didn't have the beer or decor to back it up. Second and worst of all, is the service. Everytime I've been there I've either experienced lazy servers, messed up orders, long waits for food. Also waitresses with attitude. This isn't Dick's Last Resort. The service is terrible. I actually came to write this review after another friend mentioned the terrible service at this location. I know management or whoever has to read the reviews here. Do something about your staff.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
